Kansas arrives in Piscataway after a bye week. They will give us their best shot, whatever that means. Some teams are sharp after a bye week and an extra week to focus on fundamentals and execution. Other teams don't do well when they are out of their normal week-to-week routine.

Lose to them we lose more than a game....we lose HOPE.
Sagarin has it as Rutgers favored by 7 or 8 points. Not exactly prohibitive favorites. And Kansas has a 31-game away game losing streak. Rutgers doesn't need the notoriety of putting an end to that miserable streak.

I was going to say, an opponent with a long losing streak is a double edged sword. It means they're really bad--but the streak has to end some time and the longer it goes the higher the odds are that things will finally go their way (ie 6 TO takeaways) .

Kansas is bad they lost to S. Dakota st. 41-38 and got blown out by Memphis 53-23. If we don't score points on this defense there is something seriously wrong. If we lose it's more indicative of how bad we are verses how good they are. This is simply a must win. Cozart their QB is not very good, their running back is good but not in the league of psu's running backs. They have no real speed at wide receiver. They run a spread offense but lack players to make it go.If Rossi can't stop this offense and McDaniels offense can't score pts there is no hope for the rest of the season(except Army).

33 game losing streak on the roaad- really weak armed b that complete 47% of his passes, slow WR's, and a defense that gives up 557 ypg- with 3 walk on starting.KU record in the last 4+ years 11-43!!! If we do not beat these guys- we need to fire the entire staff.

With our recent, let's say "issues," on HC, I wouldn't take The Sisters of The Poor lightly. If we don't come out, guns-a-blazin', physically AND mentally, with gameplan to get on top immediately, who knows what could happen DESPITE all of KU's issues.

IMHO if we win the toss TAKE the damn ball and shove it down there throats for a quick 7.

Although they gave up a lot of points, they scored 38 and 23. Can we score that many to keep up with them?

Not only are they well rested, they will be more prepared than we are because their coaches actually watch film and are ready to torch our prevent defense that we refuse to adjust.

We won't be prepared, just as we haven't been the last two games. Our amateur hour coaching staff will try the same dink and dunk offense with our back up level QB that has failed the last 2 games in a row. Will we adjust that? Or give our four star QB a chance? Why would we?

Dare we actually try to compete.

Nope, posing a question. Didn't say "We will not be able to keep up with them." Asked, do people think it's possible? We saw lots of points vs. Norfolk, and a good amount against WSU (although Grant boosted that). Both were home games against bad competition. Assuming we haven't regressed since then (only really lost Carroo and Muller on O), it could go either way.

Just having some fun with you Dave no worries. You're like I used to be and one of the last here I expect to "turn," so-to-speak, all good!

I'm a blue sky guy but if we lost to Kansas we should clean house Saturday pm and let me and my Pee Wee staff take over. If it's even close we should hire the flag coaches we stopped playing with bc they were incompetent. They will coach for beer and horse shoe money

Sagarin says if Rutgers plays South Dakota State, Rutgers loses by a TD. South Dakota State is not a cupcake.

I really like coach Wilson. He's not a long term solution but it would be nice for him to get a win. He seems like a good dude.

(But this program doesn't need another USF win)

-That last comment will light this thread on fire. sorry.

One of the things that concerns me about KU is that they have, literally, nothing to lose...and teams in that kind of situation are ones you really have to watch out for. They'll throw everything at you but the kitchen sink and aren't afraid to try things they haven't done before in terms of schemes/plays.

I mean, what the hell? If the new wrinkles they put in don't work it'll simply end up in another road loss, and clearly they've had plenty of those. -If they do work, though, they could cause us some problems.

This is kind of one of those "no win" situations. If the Knights crush KU , the general reaction will probably be something along the lines of...yeah, so? But if KU makes a real game out of this, or somehow pulls off a "W", (especially on homecoming), I imagine the aftermath will be, for want of a better term, "epic".

BuffaloChicken- their QB can not throw the ball more than 30 yards downfield- a- he completes 47% of his passes, gainst Washington State their QB had a good arm, so does Hackenberg. We need a pass rush, to kill their offense. They have 2 walk-ons playing in their defensive backfield- they have great difficulty tracking TE which we seem to use quite well this year. I see our running game being dominant and something they can not handle. the other issue they have in on special teams which we know we can take advantage of.

Awful does not begin to describe KU Football mostly thanks to fat Charley Weiss and incompetent ADs.

Trust me I was a Mizzou fan from age 5- Kansas football is 22-43 over the last 8 years- they were good with Coach Mangino- but not now!!!

I would not be shocked if Kansas gets a td first possession, much like Norfolk state did..... We probably start with our prevent pass defense, which means it takes a 4 minute drive for Kansas, instead of 3.... God forbid we try to cover a receiver tightly

just found out Kansas a Power 5 team has 64 scholarship players. Wow!!
That will not take long to remedy. Kansas will mimic K-State and load up on JUCOs and graduate transfers. At 64, the coach knows he gets a certain leeway and has cleaned house. That number, 64, is reminiscent of the talent level during the Terry Shea era in Piscataway. No mercy from this Rutgers fan. We know all about being short-handed. Kick some Jayhawks @ss.

Well, the opponent's game plan will be the same. They will stack the box with 8 or 9 guys to stop the run and dare Laviano to eat them deep.

On defense, they will run the bubble screens and take advantage of our inexperienced secondary. (They are a spread offense after all.) A play that our defense has trouble stopping.

Our better athletes are our hope for winning this game.

Can't blame Weis for Kansas sucking, just for not making it any better. Aside from Mangino's era, KU football has been a rock-bottom crap-fest for decades. I don't care if the Jayhawks are rested. I don't care if the teams they lost to aren't as bad as they have been in the past. I don't care about any excuses. Rutgers wins and wins easily. Maybe not by 30, but the kind of comfortable game in which you never really worry about the outcome.

Anything else is unacceptable.

So, a head coach with a passing game background has an extra week to prepare for us.... isn't that just great.

We're going to have to try to start jumping those bubble screens... invite the long pass behind us jumping that route. Just every now and then, show the willingness to attack that play.

They kicker is their QB has a weaker arm than Laviano- he is a running QB. Their DB have 2 walk-ons starting- that even with CL passing should be an advantage when the put 8 or 9 in the box, they also have had TE burn them badly in their first 2 games.
