They seem like a collection of guys who can score but not playing together and weak defensively. Can be dangerous if their 3s are dropping but have now lost 3 straight.

They seem like a good matchup for us if we can run them off the 3-point line. They shoot the ball well but turn the ball over a lot also. They seem soft inside, we should be able to control the paint. Big opportunity to pick up a valuable Road Win, borderline Q1/Q2. You have to think they are going to come out hungry.

First we have to take care of business vs C.Connecticut. Classic trap game we can't overlook.

Will be a tough game. It will be our first road game and expect their A game coming off this bad loss.

Bowling Green was Kansas State's trap game. We need to avoid that. They won't overlook us.

He’s playing himself out of the rotation. Guys like him - who do nothing but chuck 3s - are team killers. Monmouth is better this year without him.
He has had a very up and down season.
Two games prior he only logged 14 minutes and scored 3 points on 1-3 shooting with no apparent foul trouble vs Indiana.

but the game before that (Nebraska)he scored 26 points on 7-15 from 3 point range and 5-5 from the line while logging 30 minutes.

However the player that we need to stop is PJ Haggerty. He is averaging 25 / 5 / 5 on the season.

Bashir is what he is. A volume scorer who has no ability or interest in doing the other things that impact winning. When he’s hot he can take over a game, but any other time he’s a losing player.

Haggerty, on the other hand, is a beast. And he’s coming off the worst 2-game stretch of his career. Look out.

I just don’t understand the comment that he is playing himself out of the rotation.

Besides the game against Indiana (14 minutes) he has played 22+ minute in every other contest.

He has started all 8 games and is shooting 47.4% from three on 27-57.

His shot volume is down from 17.8 attempts per game to 9.4 compared to last year. He clearly had a different role last year for Monmouth than he does this year.

Doesn’t sound like a guy we don’t have to worry about. Give the kid open looks from 3, and he is going to knock them down and hurt you.

He's 2nd to last on the team in defensive rating, 2nd to last in defensive box plus minus, 2nd to last in defensive rebounding percentage, dead last in offensive rebounding percentage, 2nd to last in steal percentage, dead last in block percentage. If you are going to be a 3-and-D guy, you need to do the "D" part too. That's what I mean by he is playing himself out of the rotation.

You are right, though, that if he gets hot he can hurt us.

So then say he is a limited player who struggles on the defensive side of the floor.

His coach has started him every game and is playing 22+ minutes a game.

playing himself out of the rotation implies we would be seeing a lot less of him when we play.

Quirky team. They’ve been very weak defensively but great offensively bc of the 3-ball. They’re 11th in % despite only being average in 3PA:FGA (only 100th in 2PT%).

Struggle with turnovers.

They also get shots up quickly; 21st in possession length.

You just got to watch why he’s playing himself out the rotation. He sucks. Losing player.

Wow talk about not letting it go.

Show me the quote where I said he was a great player. He did start, played 23 minutes, and is still shooting 45% from 3 on the season. Not sure how many 45% 3 point shooters get permanently benched.

The definition of playing yourself out of the rotation is that he is being relegated to the bench and not playing.

Let me know when Bashir is riding the pine and his box score shows zero minutes played. I’ll wait for you to post the link to that throughout the season.

last time I checked we had plenty of players who sucked last year, who were firmly “in the rotation”.

Both with star players that we shut down.
As a person who mainly watches the Big East, I had no idea who either of these two "stars" were before watching our games against them. And I honestly can say if their names weren't mentioned during the broadcast I wouldn't have even noticed them. Haggerty looked like a D2 player most of the night.

Amazing job by Sha and the players coming up with a plan to contain them. They went far beyond containment.

I saw the 2nd half of the BGSU game. KState looked just as pathetic against them as well. Last year they spent a ton of NIL and flopped. Could happen again.

Tang’s elite eight is looking more and more like a fluke. He’s a pretty bad coach.

most people on this very board said the EXACT thing about Sha not even a few months ago
The guy had a 25-win season, won an NIT championship and still entered this season 49-53 as our head coach. It is very difficult to do all of that.

7-25 wasn't trending in the right direction.

Holloway has made a grand total of one NCAA tournament in seven seasons as a head coach. Let's see him make 2 or 3 more and then we can re-evaluate his stature as a high major coach. His resume is very lackluster outside of the fluky 3 game run to the 2022 Elite Eight.

Tang did earn a 3 seed in 2023, but he built that team largely out of thin air, relying on transfers. A patchwork that happened to work. His trend is definitely downward.

Beating Kentucky and Purdue in the same NCAAT is not fluky. He out coached and out executed two superior teams.

I would add it’s a heck of a lot tougher to take SHU to the the NCAA than almost any other high major in the Rev share/NIL world.

That being said, Holloway has to get SHU to another NCAAT. But it’s not all on him, the school has to provide him with adequate resources to compete. So far this season, good on both fronts.

And there's the shame of it. The need for money and allowing your athletes to be totally embarrassed. They do not belong on the same court as Kansas State, but at least it's not as bad as football where the inferior roster can get injured playing bigger, stronger athletes.

Hopefully K ST at least got a bump in Kenpom and the Net to help our cause.
