it sounds like she was maybe guilty, and trusting, and got screwed, and Dee is just a 17'n dumbass.

Just an opinionfrom a distance.

withdraw their plea. I think something did happen in that car and that Stuart should be facing some sort of charges, personally.

But it is what it is. Two dead people based on your driving, hard to be too sympathetic. Maybe she should have mentioned this in-car fight early on, not a year later.

And I'm calling ******** on the story that Stuart was beating her when the accident happened. Not that I don't think he probably had in the past. But if you're driving a car and someone is hitting you, you're not going to speed up to 80 MPH in a 40 MPH zone. You're going to slow down. Not to mention, as Lewis says, it's a little late to bring up that allegation a year after the fact. I have no sympathy for her. As for Stuart, he's done a lot of bad things, but I don't think he did anything criminal that night.

she thought that she would get something like two years or was under that impression, and now that this has happened, she's desperate.

I do feel bad for her on one level, but while what happened in the car is debatable, there is no debate that she was intoxicated and there is also no debate that it is illegal to drive while intoxicated.

I may be in the minority here, but I do think that she should get two years simply because that's what the victim's families wanted- both of them. I don't have a problem with the sentence either though- you make your bed you have to lie in it. I may be naive, but I don't think that the families want to sue Stuart just to try to get more money and made an agreement with Karen to ask for the minimum simply because they can all sue Stuart whether Karen gets the life sentence or community service. Also, if they were going after money, why share it with Karen?

or even the 5th one. She has had many that her husband's money and influence covered. She didnt mind being marriedto himon thoseoccasions. I dont feel sorry for her at all. As far as the drunk hitting/beating, it was going both ways. Someone ask her about the scar her husband's left bicep.

Advised by my lawyer to plead guilty, did so and then got the maximum amount of time less only ten percent (20 - 2 = 18 years) and had the families victims pleading for me to get the minimum sentence, 2 years, seriously I would want to withdraw my plea too and go to trial. WTF would I have to lose at that point?

Don't totally buy the abuse in the car story either, don't feel sorry for her, but I do think the judge went overboard. Listen to the victims?? HA, she basically took a dump on what the victims said.
