They're doing well with the money. I think they overpaid a bit if the Bidunga and Shelstead reports are accurate, but it's not the worst case to overpay for stars.

I still don't see how going into debt to pay NIL is sustainable though. Is there any actual ROI from a NIL contribution? Most of America has no clue who the **** these kids are. How much more value does having Bidunga on an ad have than a generic actor? I can't imagine much.

UL may be doing well in the portal but not on account of Karter Knox. Dude sucks.
I think he's a good player and could have made Ark more competitive had he been healthy. Not having that 8th rotation guy to go to really hurt them IMO. And they didn't have a Jorts a la the Brandon Knight squad.

Way undersized, uneven effort, and used as a goon to make hard off-ball fouls more than anything. Addition by subtraction for Arkansas once he left the lineup.

PK is as much of an oddball as MP and has had worse overall results. We still have money, but can't get guys to sign here after being given the royal treatment (while many schools are getting solid recruits w/o visits). Plus, our guys exiting are laughing as the door closes. I just don't get it!

At least Will Stein is cooking and Kenny Brooks is quietly adding some experienced pieces to go along with a heck of a incoming class.

I won't disagree -- I didn't watch enough Arky games to get a read on the team. The few games I watched, he had some highlight plays and a few 3s. But yeah, I won't pretend to be an expert here.

Understood. Should have clarified success as NCAA Tournament success (Round of 64 and Round of 32 for PK/U6). Of course, S16 and Ro32 for us is not fantastic over the same period). I'll never compare winning percentages of ACC schools to B10 and SEC schools, as their bottom half of the conference is so bad. Your team record skews because of that.

That said, I'd take Pat Kelsey over Mark Pope (just threw up in my mouth typing that). Truth be told, both are goobers though and I'd prefer to have neither.

I don’t mind Kentucky that much since Louisville has been in the ACC ..I can’t stand Duke and North Caroline

Louisville has a ton more Nil money than we do .
How is that possible?

UK has the richer alumni base. UK has the far larger and more passionate fan base (and that’s compared to EVERYONE, not just UL). UK has the deeper endowment. UK has corporate backing. UK has Nike backing. UK is in the far richer conference.

So how is UL able to outspend us? I don’t get it.

Heard Louisville earlier today too. Kelsey cooking.
Kelsey and Louisville are just way over spending to get players. His not “cooking”, they’re making fools of themselves. $5 million for Budunga? Seriously? Why?

UL is putting together a formidable starting 5. I don’t know if it looks better than the KU team of last year. So, Kelsey may have to out-coach Self to get any traction in the tournament. It is crazy that upper class men who would not be drafted in the first round will make more than many first round draft picks. Is the NCAA becoming only second to the NBA in professional salary potential? Are leagues over seas paying this much?

I am in the minority on Knox. I thought he would break out last year but injuries and Billy Richmond happened. If UL gets the St. Mary's PF they will be formidable.

At this point, the best thing for the program and UK basketball is to get ran out of the gym by the cardinals in Rupp next year. The pain we suffered last year should have been enough for regime change but we are gonna have to suffer even more.

He can spend $10 million per player for all I care… Botton line, he’s building a winning roster, just like the rest of UK’s rivals, while we’re watching Pope go 0-40 on star players going on over 2 years now!

Sour grapes, are just that, sour.

Seems Arizona St is the lean on the St Mary’s kid, but in this NIL world, who knows?

Knox certainly showed flashes in the last 1/3 of his frosh season. Did not think he would stay in the draft. If healthy, I think he would have had many more minutes last season despite Richmond’s progress and occasional dominance.
