Didn't see anyone mention this yet and I almost missed it, but its written about at the bottom of the UK/Cal article linked at the top.

Apparently Katz doesn't think Sidney plays for at least a few more weeks at minimum, guess he knows something Sidney doesn't. Talks about a dispute over the statement of facts and the process that is upcoming now that we don't agree with what the NCAA has presented.

I didn't realize there was a dispute, seemed the consensus on this board was that MSU would accept the statement of facts, guess not.

My hope is we get him cleared to play for next year, sure could use him in the post.

it's been so long since anyone has seen him play that he may not get drafted in the first round. The $$$ difference between being a Top 5 pick and being at the end of the first round would be worth another year of school if you can afford to do it. And if his family can afford that house in SoCal he can afford to do it. /sarcasm

1) If we get him eligible to play next season
Then...
2) He doesn't get drafted b/c no one has seen him play and they don't want to take the risk
And...
3) Why go to Europe, as quite a few Americans players can attest it isn't exactly a vacation playing for those clubs
So...
4) Stay one year and prove you are what everyone thinks you are and get NBA lottery $$$

seems simple to me.

Completely logical. Just not sure he'll be smart enough, or patient enough, to make that decision should it be the case. What would make that scenario even better is if he qualifies to play this year, gets in good enough shape before March, provides the missing link for a deep tourney run, and yet still doesn't do enough for his draft stock to expect first round money. THAT would ideal, to the point where all this waiting was somehow worth it.

But the reality is, it's going on late January... and he's in street clothes.

is what's critical if we want to have the chance to make noise in the NCAAs. Sidney and Jarvis together probably gives us that possibility. Jarvis without Sidney or Sidney without Jarvis probably does not. Also, as frustating as Randy can be on the offensive end, our perimeter defense will suffer next year without him.

I'm just proposing a hypothetical. Also, I think that Sidney and Jarvis are complementary players but Jarvis would be helped more by Sidney than the other way around b/c Sidney is a legitimate scoring threat every time he touches the ball and as seen this year we can have trouble scoring in the paint at times.

On a side note: Sidney can take a charge like M. Austin, rebound like L. Roberts, hit the mid range jumper like C. Rhodes, and defend like JV, also the Boogie man checks his closet for Sidney before he goes to bed.

If he plays and doesn't look good, he may hurt his draft position to the point that he would not getting drafted if he left. I may be wrong, but I feel like if there's anybody telling him he'll get a contract, he's gone. And really, if he is going to get a contract somewhere, he's probably better off developing in the pros. </p>

would be un-kind. Our first NBA player in YEARS and he would have zero highlights from his "playing days" at dear 'ol State.

"I'm comfortable where we are on the facts,'' Jackson said. "But the big-ticket issue, the amateurism issue, isn't really an issue anymore.''

Who knows what the real truth is though

be the defensive presence Jarvis is so I still think its sort of a wash to have one or the other by themselves. To have both seems to somewhat shore up ALL of our weaknesses in the post area.

If Sidney got cleared and decided to stay for 3 or 4 years and shove it up the NCAA's ***
