neglects that Minor is on pace to reach his desired innings limit by the end of August, and the plan is to have Kawakami pitch in September. Though, if Kawakami is horrible in AAA and Minor is doing good.....well i don't think the Braves have a plan for that situation.

I guess they could pick up a veteran thru a waiver trade to pitch a few September games.

I like it if some salary comes our way, and if Figgins plays CF. He's an upgrade over Melky, not an upgrade over Infante. He's a switch hitter, so3B againstrighties withMelky in LF and Ankiel in CF, against leftiesFiggins playing CF with Infante/Prado at 3B/2B and Melky in LF. So, against righties he's replacing Conrad, and against lefties he's replacing Ankiel. That's a good an improvement as they'll find on the waiver wire. Solve the Sept starter problem and jump at that deal.</p>

salary clearing through waivers... and with Chipper's injury it makes sense. How much does Kawakami factor into the Braves future?

Looks like a decent deal to me, regardless of who pays for Figgins.
