The system was designed by those in power. They do not want to punish themselves, so the only schools that end up getting screwed will be those not in power.

If the NCAA requires the athletic departments are responsible for the academic progress of students, then I have no problem with athletic departments doing everything they can do to game the system.

I figured they would get hammered with their starting 5 + 1all leaving, but they won't due to them sigining pro contracts. Cal is slicker than I thought.

Where some of this is coming from.

Itd be pretty friggin dumb to punish a team for players leaving early for the NBA.

UK did everything by the book. They arent slick for not taking a hit. They knew the rules and managed to get all the players to abide by them.

Damn people will blame anything the can on Cal, even when it clearly doesnt make sense.

The one rule i dislike about APR and a player leaving early is that in order for the player's absence to not count against the college program, that player must be employed as a professional that next year. Its just dumb to me.
If the player cant stay employed, the school is punished? Just seems like a bad rule.
I say once a player goes pro early, the school is no longer subject to what they may or may not do.

Should a school be punished because a player decides to leave? The APR system was invented as a bad solution to what was perceived to be a problem caused by the schools. I say the lower graduation rates have more to do with the increased number of professional opportunities abroad.
