I think we literally have everything you need. I’d prefer to be a little bit better shooting the ball, but we have enough there when we take the right shots. Biggest issue I saw was the gameplan. We began the game in a seven second offense, which led to rushed shots and getting up and down the floor. That allowed Louisville to use their speed and shooting to put us behind the eight ball. Also, we were trying to play so fast that we were turning it over and they buried us on nearly every turnover. Once we settled down and mucked it up a little, it was clear we had the advantage. Problem is, against an offense like theirs, once you get too far behind, you aren’t gonna easily catch up. I warned about every single one of these things before the game because I watched basically every Louisville game. If we had kept it slow at first, their guards would have gotten impatient in the Halfcourt and took questionable shots. Instead, they got rhythm looks and confidence. They are a feast or famine team. Our defense had no chance when we started rushing shots and turning it over because of their speed. It was absolutely on Pope —- I think he overestimated our ability to beat Louisville at their own game, but I knew before the game that wasn’t going to work, which is why I picked Louisville to win by 4 points.
