It was a good year considering the situation and timing. It wasn’t good if we are gonna hold it to the standard. We got blown out by Tennessee a team we beat two times already.

Did a bunch of good things last year but it wasn’t anything amazing.

The only thing though, we were pretty hurt going into the tournament. We lost a top3 player in Jrob and I dont think Butler was ever 100% after January. I know every team has some guys banged up, but we were fairly duck tapped together in the end.

But I agree, s16 isnt the ceiling.

You are the one that sounds like a child here that can’t stand even mild pushback.
LMAO, no, you don't get to walk it back now. You literally said MP hasn't accomplished ****.

You said everything he did last year, after starting in April, with no players, was crap, because he lost 10 games.

You're a joke.

If you think last year was a great accomplishment, you have no business being in a position to make tough decisions at Kentucky. I was fine bringing him back, but I find it funny how hard you all are riding his dick.

Too many turnovers to overcome, especially when you give them 30+ free throws, Lowe wasn’t good and Oweh was downright terrible, IMO. If OO isn’t 100% healthy, he needs to sit.

The fact that you don't realize just how good a job Pope did last year, tells me all I need to know about you.

I guess you might as well go ahead and blame Pope for losing Butler, Robinson and Kriisa to injuries. In your world, injuries don't matter.

I have news for you, take the starting pg, starting SG and backup pg off any team and they aren't going anywhere.

You're just a spoiled brat that needs a nap though. Maybe you'll feel better tomorrow.

FWIW... Butler, Robinson, and Kriisa weren't good players.

Words mean things, and your complete separation from any objective reality suggests you are not the person to determine who the “adults” are.
I'm not the one trashing Pope and throwing hissy fits all over the board. That would be you.

You can’t read apparently. I was fine bringing him back, considering the circumstances. That is me acknowledging those things. Acting like he’s did some amazing coaching job is proof you are a child or dont actually follow the sport.

Here's the thing, nobody cares if you are fine with Pope returning. You don't get to make the decision.

Nevertheless, no true UK fan should be in here shitting on what Pope did last year.

You're a joke.

When healthy, they beat duke, Gonzaga on the road, swept Tennessee and beat Florida. Florida won the title.

No, they weren't Fox, Monk and Bledsoe, but they were extremely key to a very thin team.
Last years team beats this one.

Oweh last year was better

point guard was better

shooting guard was a pro so far Carr seems better than Mo

Amari is a pro.

Im pissed. Why do I care so much? These dudes don’t even care about Kentucky like I do.
I get it. I have moved to the point where I remind myself win or lose my life is unaffected. I’m not getting nearly as invested as I used to for any sports. While I watch and root like hell, I’m nowhere near as engaged given how so much has changed in sports.

Given that my observations/concerns are will UK have an elite guy on the court from an offensive standpoint and does Pope have it in him to fix the defense? The D has been hyped as so much better but tonight (I know 1 game) the D was very pedestrian.

That’s why I’m wondering why does he wait to start pressing and using the (depth) of this team to his advantage before he is down twenty on the road??
This team is not ready for that sort of defense. Step one, stay between your man and the basket unless your name is Anthony Davis or Willie Cauley Stein. No full court stuff till they can do that.

Only improvement is that we seems to rebound better, probably this will make us from 10 loss to 8 loss... But still not championship contender level team

Other parts looks regressing now

Maybe I’m not remembering right but isn’t that when we cut into the 20 point lead when we started pressing

Not because I’m super mad and negative right now but I see 12-13 losses this year 8 seed in tournament.

What reality? Just which one are you talking about? The one where turnovers and free throws cost a game where we didn't play well? Or some reality where the coach gets trashed for missed free throws and tanked 3pt shots? We fell well short of our capability and got beat on turnovers and free throws. Or are you talking about the reality where we don't improve any through March? Or the reality that injured players should produce at 100%.

You are the one completely out of context here. We have areas where we can improve. A big part of basketball is how you improve during the year, not how you play the third game. Some of you guys would have been suicidal during 2014. This is basketball, not a PS5.

There isn’t a lot of reality around. You either have the Hoskins types where Pope is literal trash or the Pope is epitome of perfection and doesn’t deserve criticism. Neither are based anywhere in reality. Pope got outcoached, it happens. Gotta be better from here and we can be. We have a really good team.

We obviously have skilled players. We made some very nice runs and made up a massive deficit twice in a short amount of time. We also have some glaring weaknesses that led to us getting in massive holes. The question is do we have the ability to fix the weaknesses or are we destined for a letdown in the tournament where the weakness that was there all season gets exposed?

I think we literally have everything you need. I’d prefer to be a little bit better shooting the ball, but we have enough there when we take the right shots. Biggest issue I saw was the gameplan. We began the game in a seven second offense, which led to rushed shots and getting up and down the floor. That allowed Louisville to use their speed and shooting to put us behind the eight ball. Also, we were trying to play so fast that we were turning it over and they buried us on nearly every turnover. Once we settled down and mucked it up a little, it was clear we had the advantage. Problem is, against an offense like theirs, once you get too far behind, you aren’t gonna easily catch up. I warned about every single one of these things before the game because I watched basically every Louisville game. If we had kept it slow at first, their guards would have gotten impatient in the Halfcourt and took questionable shots. Instead, they got rhythm looks and confidence. They are a feast or famine team. Our defense had no chance when we started rushing shots and turning it over because of their speed. It was absolutely on Pope —- I think he overestimated our ability to beat Louisville at their own game, but I knew before the game that wasn’t going to work, which is why I picked Louisville to win by 4 points.

I won’t forgive Pope for not starting your only point guard in that hostile environment. He’s a veteran that’s played Louisville on top of that. I’m still confused. They got on us from the tip.

See that’s where you are dead wrong. Nobody has said he is above criticism but nobody has stated a criticism that holds water. All I’ve heard is philosophical BS that boils down to we lost and some aren’t man enough to handle it. We have work to do. If we won, we still have work to do. We have to be able to score without jacking threes. We have to be able to stay between the ball and the basket. We need healthy players. We need to defend the three. Well, doh!!!

I’m sorry that some people’s since of well being is founded in whether this team wins or loses. It’s pathetic when people piss their money away on a sporting event. Trashing the coach don’t help that. But regardless, you do you.

Sorry if you didn’t understand but my criticisms were very specific. We needed to slow the game down to take advantage of our superiority in the frontcourt. Yes u can’t be much more specific than that lol —- especially when I said it before the game even tipped off. You seem very sensitive about someone saying Pope got outcoached, something that I bet he himself knows.

You do realize most of our players were high on someone else’s list. We’re bidding for our fourth, they are bidding on their first. Welcome to semiprofessional sports. It fickle, corrupt and poorly managed by the league office. Oh! And no contracts with the team they are playing for.

Idk. Our highest paid player was the last one to join the team.

You said that. Philosophic BS that has no bearing in fact. I thought we needed to go faster. We were not getting the ball in the paint. We were passing on the perimeter and jacking threes. We had no spacing. That’s nervous players, not coaching. Just more philosophy on my part. Not legitimate criticism.

Coach not following your game plan is a plus not a minus.
