Seriously, what recruit and transfer that wants to win will come to UK to play here after watching this. I’ll tell you, the same type we got this year. Is Pope gonna win a championship? Likely not. Is Pope gonna help you get to the league? probably not. Is Pope gonna promise playing time? Nope. I think we are in bad trouble

After 20 minutes we are 20 down to Vandy, no Kentucky fan young or old can or will accept this. They are out hustling and out playing us in every way. We are getting out coached with Vandy players shooting wide open shots. We can’t shake them or make any decent passes and as usual struggle to score. Starting behind big every game is demoralizing, at some point it will show in your play, I see that tonight.

Absolutely! This team needs a coach who overtly leads. This is NOT analytical Pope. This team needs someone to crack some skulls, bust their asses and call them out. Think Pitino would have put up with this team body language, effort and lack of team communication? Nope. Even Cow would have busted *** on the bench like Randle in live game situation.
If we’re gonna do analytics it needs to be how far his shoe can go up somebody’s ***

This is what happens when you go with the school's former player. He was the easy out for Ditch the "Lifetime Contract' Mitch.

Lack of effort just can’t be excused away. And it happens time and time again. I believe it’s the players who think they are too cool to play hard and have already been paid. But a coach has to hold them accountable. I’d pull them all off the floor and go home. I really would.
Yup, a total lack of effort, like they all just took a nap. But why should they play hard, their coach just tells them everything is beautiful and he just stands there quietly. What a joke.
I can’t believe this is what UK basketball has become. Can't believe it.

Pope will get that third year.

And then he'll win something like 24 or 25 games and lose in the sweet 16, and the same Indianaesque Kentucky fans that are covering for him now will be elated and call us out every time he wins a game against a non-top 10 team.

I'm really sick of you people that keep covering for him. You guys are the worst.

When you didn’t deserve the job to begin with…and you don’t have the equity of a good career up to this point…at UK, maybe it should.
Root of the Problem = Mitch.

If Mitch never Hired Pope and went after an actual UK caliber coach, I don't think we would be in this mess.

Then 2nd blame is Pope.

Mitch has equal blame. So I agree.

Our players don't improve with our current coaching staff. In fact they seem to get worse each season, example Brandon Garrison. I'm starting to believe, John Wall would have been a 2nd round pick under Pope.
That is painfully obvious. Nor does Pope take conditioning seriously.

If there is something Pope does well as a coach what is it?

Great point and one that probably isn’t talked about enough. If he survives the year, which he will and he comes out and wins 24/25 games next year and finishes 3rd in the SEC. Wins a game or two in the tourney, you know Barnhart extends his contract….ugh

Mitch has the ability to right his wrong. But he won’t.

@Possum …here I am, badmouthing our coach again. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think I remember hearing that that Tanner's only offer was from Vandy. Surely, that cannot be right ?? Geez ...

D leaders select D players.

Anyone defending Pope at this stage, needs their head examined.

Let’s see what the second half brings……

Well I’m not miserable enough. I turned off the IU Purdue game to go back to this disaster.

Moreno still looks slow as ****, and rebounds with one arm and bending over like he's trying to avoid contact.

Pope at half, "We have a lot to work on".

Dude that has been the same crap you said 10+ games ago.

Clueless
