Why? This isn't going to be good for anyone in any way....it'll just give the "fans" more room to point fingers at him, new coach, old coach, fans, etc.

Translation: I wasn't going to start and it looked like my playing time was going to be cut dramatically.
Ok the bottom line appears to be stats and impact on draft value. He's pointing to the change in scheme leading to a drop in performance as he said. I think Collins drop off was a big issue among the dline. We have to squash this perception.

The part I thought was funny is he thinks he is going to improve his stock playing in the SEC.

So, anyone care to elaborate on the scheme change that is hurting DL stats? I thought Bo's two-gap scheme was not DL friendly, so I am kind of surprised by this.

The scheme we are playing doesn't reduce stats. If anything, the stats should have INCREASED. Collins was doubled teamed A LOT. VV was hurt and played lazy and that will show
up on tapes.

And with VM being on a staff with no winning seasons at a traditional bottom dweller in the SEC, I'll bet VM is full of more BS than a used car salesman speaking to a hot chick that knows nothing about cars.

Many moons ago my company sacked Leader A who was not real effective. I know Leader A was angry. Leader B took over, and I suspect didn’t think much of Leader A. Right before Leader A left he sent a note to the workforce thanking us for working so hard. He outlined some successes and asked us to continue to work hard for Leader B. Leader B sent a memo a couple hours later saying he was flattered to be in charge of a workforce Leader A had done so well guiding, thanked Leader A for tireless years of service, said there wouldn’t be any wholesale changes, he was just going to “modulate” an already excellent group, blah, blah, blah. There is a way these things are done. I suspect the whole VV, GM, KW situations could have been different if FHCBP and Kaz had called the team together, told them things just didn’t work out, told them it is the nature of the business, and asked them to give the next their best shot.
That's what professionals do. Say what you want about Cally, but it seems he did not direct any ill will after leaving. Hoping these players are the last of it.
No kidding. That was all I needed to know about him last year when he was obviously PO'd as one of the press members referred to him as a backup dlineman -- which is exactly what he was. Good riddance.

At first I was bummed that we were losing some depth on the dline, but after hearing the interview, all I can say is good riddance. I am convinced that the Pelini regime recruited some of the laziest dlinemen that this program has ever seen. I know that JP came in and laid down the law and put his expectations out there and 2 guys bailed.
I would have paid good money to have the hosts ask Williams "You say that you clearly would have been a starter. Who would you have displaced in the rotation as starter?"

Damon Benning had a really good take on it this morning on his show long before the interview. McMullen he seemed to indicate just didn't have his heart in football anymore. All he said about Williams is that he was a guy that we should just say goodbye to and not worry about him leaving. His response to being called a backup last season sure seemed unusual at best. More of BP's fine mentoring.
The guy put in the work and got his degree and even if it is UNL an Engineering Degree is an accomplishment. If he lands on a team that has a better image relative to defense then he is probably making the right choice and certainly right for him.
