The guy has big time influence of some big time prospects, including our top commit.
I personally have read a total of 2 comments on this board calling for firing the coaching staff now.
Of all the comments made on this forum I am guessing that the percentage of people making those comments is less that 1/1000 of 1%... an infinitesimally small number of people. And I don't recall anyone agreeing with those comments.
It's not the amount of people expressing those opinions that is the problem. It's the BLOW IT ALL OUT OF PROPORTION goons who are trying to misrepresent and corrupt the discussion that are the problem... as usual.
Looks like a few posts deleted from this thread already... For those not sold on Keyshawn talking, what about what McBride has to say?

Cause USC fans "Keyshawn's alma-mater" are not hammering Sarkisian right now? Go to their board. Look at what they have to say about Stevie? Look at what any team that is losing in any sport, and see what their fans say about the coach. I could not care less of what "Give me the dam ball" has to say. His son will not make our break this program. Would love to have him. However, an incompetent coach will break husker nation. Football is a cut throat game. Coaching football is kill or be killed. I work in securities. If I don't make people $, they don't say "give me time" or "he is our guy, so lets ride with him". Hell no they don't. It's all about the bottom line and if the bottom line isn't a "w" for coach Riley, I have no love for him.

So now negative fan talk on message boards does effect recruiting. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the last staff, but do recall during their tenure we were constantly told by certain group of members that negative fan talk doesn't hurt recruiting in anyway. Flash forward, new staff on board and now those same naysayers want to flip and say it does.
With that being said, the previous staff didn't leave the cupboard empty, full blame for that goes to Husker nation.
Too many people with zero insight or understanding have decided they're experts. Unfortunately in today's world they've also been given podiums to stand at and spew stupidity for the world to hear on the Internet.
I could care less if someone thinks Riley is awful, shouldn't have been hired, wants Bo back, blah blah blah. It's time to deal with reality. Riley is the head coach. He is trying to turn Nebraska around but it's obviously more than a one year project. There are tons of problems. You can criticize specifics if you want...that's fair. But saying. He's a failure, our program is doomed and we should fire him now is not only unfair, but it's flat out stupid. Back off. Give the guy a few years and quit adding to the negativity around the program. Even if your whining has no negative impact in the grand scheme of things, it certainly doesn't have a positive effect
Unfortunately there are lots of braying jackasses and according to at least one mod a fair number of them are not fans of other teams that are on here stirring the pot. The free board has always been a microphone for the ignorant but it seems especially bad right now. I used to be on RSS years ago until deal with my credit card POed me and I would come over here and just be dumbfounded by some of the stupidity being doled out. In fact the negativity being fomented by some "fans" is not good for the team OR recruiting. I'm 100% behind Riley and hope he has a 10 year run at NU.Too many people with zero insight or understanding have decided they're experts. People would be wise to digest what Charlie has to say.
Do you really think this is just lip service by Charlie? Did you read the article? He was very specific in his support, this wasn't a generic "the coaches are great!" article. Sorry if you can't see the genuineness of Charlie here...What else do you think he would say. He would never say anything bad about a coaching staff.

Perhaps not. But feel free to dig up the articles where he pro-actively came out in support of previous staffs that have been at Nebraska.
Not hard to find. He gave emphatic thumbs up about the Callahan hire. Several articles about that. Didn't even bother looking for articles about Bo...too busy to do that today.
So gator, you do see this as lip service...
I'm not aware of any articles that quote Charlie that are like the one posted here.
Well nothing of that sort comes close to the heights of stupidity displayed when accusing players of throwing games, or even tossing the idea of that into a message board post, but I read a few of those this week.Too many people with zero insight or understanding have decided they're experts. Charlie raved about Bill Callahan. "Billy's as good a fit for Nebraska that I can ever imagine," McBride said. "I told my wife that if Bill didn't make it at Oakland, I hope Steve looks at him. He would be my first choice."
And I respectfully disagree with Keyshawn that this is a "rebuilding situation".
I wonder if he means if we didn't go to a pro style offense we wouldn't need to rebuild. CoolHow is it not a rebuilding situation? Half of our travel roster are walk-ons. We're changing offensive and defensive schemes to the point where they require different types of players at a lot of positions. Most of our offense last year was a result of AA, he's gone. On top of that, our defense is decimated by injuries. All of that coupled with the change in mentality needed to get rid of the "us against the world" and panic in big games as well as players not buying into the new staff and still communicating with the previous staff...Riley and co didn't have a prayer this year. This is a dumpster fire that just needs to be salvaged and have a groundwork start to be laid for seasons to come.

Fixed it for you.I heard quite often last year that a monkey could come in and win 9 games. Now people act like we're at Iowa State's level and are lucky to be 2-3 at this point.
It's a rebuilding situation and it has been since it became abundantly clear that Bo Pelini has no idea how to run a football program. When he told his staff to take the summer off his first year, that was the alarm sounding. By year 3 it was clear that he didn't have the determination and/or competence to build a football team of his own. Why he was kept around beyond this point is a mystery to me. In any event, Riley and company are "enjoying" the fruits of Bo Pelini's "labor."
