Eh. I don’t think it makes them a contender like some do. Their offense still stinks. What's your opinion on the Bears trading two first round picks for Khalil Mack?

Trouble...Teams don’t get rid of play making edge rushers, makes you wonder what the red flags the Raiders saw?
The red flags appear to be that Mack wanted to be (deservedly so) the highest paid defensive player in the league.Teams don’t get rid of play making edge rushers, makes you wonder what the red flags the Raiders saw?
What did the Bears lose, anyway? What's your opinion on the Bears trading two first round picks for Khalil Mack?

There are reports that Gruden has never met with Mack since becoming head coach, and Lordy can I not wait until it’s proven that Gruden is a dinosaur.
That’s why Ditka isn’t around anymore. With coach ditka this guy would Last around 45 min.
I imagine the Bears will make a fairly large front loaded offer that would make him the highest paid defensive player. Are the Bears going to make him the highest paid player in the league?
Newt27 multi time pro bowler 40 sacks in his career so far. Defensive mvp - arguably the best linebacker in football right now.
Generational player. You do what you gotta do to get closer to a title. Two first rounders hurt but they won’t hurt as much if this guy plays here for the next 7–10 years and continues to dominate.
Filled a major need with one of the 2-3 best defensive players in the game right now.
Easily makes this a top 5 defense right now and one of the top front sevens in the game.
My dinosaur comment was in regards to Gruden.Newt
We’re dinosaurs I guess.
I say take the best player who makes you better.
We will see how it plays out. No risk no reward. I like proven vs unproven. Who says what you get in the draft?
He's 27. He is not going to play, let alone dominate, another 10 years.Generational player. You do what you gotta do to get closer to a title. Two first rounders hurt but they won’t hurt as much if this guy plays here for the next 7–10 years and continues to dominate.

Hopefully he has kept in shape. Scheme wise, he could provide plenty of value immediately without understanding the full scheme. "Go get the QB" doesn't require too deep of knowledge and hes already the best they have at that. They can add the nuance later. He's 27. He is not going to play, let alone dominate, another 10 years.
IMO, this is a trade a team makes when they are a player away. The Bears are far from a player away. We'll see how this pans out. The NFC North is very good. If next year's 1st round pick ends up being a top 10, not so good. And this trade better pay immediate dividends, because that what justifies the cost. How many games are they going to get out of him this year at his peak? He missed training camp. How long until he's in football shape and familiar with the Bears' schemes?
My dinosaur comment was in regards to Gruden.
Okay
We have been down the QB debate before. Do you remember the Cutler fiasco? How did that loss in time work out? Nightmare that took at least 5 years to get rid of. let’s work on building a defense please.
Thanks and amen.
I think Mack’s track record coming in is much better than Cutlers. Can’t fault the Bears for taking a risk like this.
For better or worse, when Pace identifies his guy, he goes after him.I think Mack’s track record coming in is much better than Cutlers. Can’t fault the Bears for taking a risk like this.
I think the money against the cap is the only risk. Paying Stafford, Flacco etc.. limits options to round out a team. It really all comes down to TruBINski to be a pro bowl type QB in the next 3 years while on rookie contract for Bears to compete for a bowl in ‘19, ‘20 and ‘21For better or worse, when Pace identifies his guy, he goes after him.
Ditka is a fraud. After Buddy Ryan left, Ditka won just one playoff game ...only one. With all that talent. There should be three, at least, Super Bowl trophies at Halas Hall..He's a blustery jerk. I wish he had run for US Senator ... all the dirt would have come out on him and he'd have been disgraced. With coach ditka this guy would Last around 45 min.
I don’t trust the bears when draft picking in the first round anyways. How many 1st round busts in last 10 years? If they can trade draft picks for proven players I’m ok with it. Lol
GB hasn’t drafted very well of late....If you don't know how to draft then you won't win anyhow regardless of what trades and free agents you pick up. Those players you get in trades and free agents are players whose NFL clocks are already counting down.
I think I heard the average NFL player is in the NFL for 6 years. That's a short window to build a winning team. You have to make good draft picks every year to be succesful.
Success = Making good draft picks
Bring in the right individual from the Packers or Patriots brass into the organization to make the draft picks.
Easier for Mack to make an impact right away. But yes, it will look different come NOV.I think the defense will take a while to gel. Mack hasn’t practiced football in several months and smith hasn’t played in a game yet. This will be a different team in November.
So, as far liking Ditka goes...can I put you down as a "maybe?"Ditka is a fraud. After Buddy Ryan left, Ditka won just one playoff game ...only one. With all that talent. The NFL is so fluid year to year (for the most part) that it's hard to evaluate how tough a schedule is/was until after the season or at least the half way point. After week 3 everyone is hurt and guys off the street are starting for teams. Before the trade I looked at the Bears' schedule. Today it looks like they have a pretty tough schedule. Three tough games to start. Then they should win 4 of the next five at least. The next three weeks will pretty much determine where they sit in the division. Then the Giants and then they finish with four tough games. I'd be happy to see them win 8 or 9 games, even with the trade.
I'll have to dig up the article, but there was an analysis I read earlier in the season that point spread from the previous season was a better predictor of W-L than the prior seasons W-L. And while the Bears had one of the tougher W-L strengths of schedule, that point difference was much weaker, so they may be primed for a sneaky easy schedule. The NFL is so fluid year to year (for the most part) that it's hard to evaluate how tough a schedule is/was until after the season or at least the half way point.
