Only way they keep Major Applewhite IF he's successful there is if they finally get a bid to be in the Big 12. Which I think Texas will now let them in since they got Tom Herman, which is the only reason they didn't get into the Big 12 this time around.

Houston was seeking a large buyout clause. Not sure whether it mirrored Petrino's, but if it does, they may keep their coach.

It's hard to take you seriously if you can't keep up with what's happening in this decade.

I wasn't talking about this decade---well, actually I was, before Stoops. Do you want to deny that the recruiting budget for football with typically 25 commits was LESS than for basketball's four of five, at least when I checked it right after UK got the unexpected $5,000,000 BONUS money due to SEC FOOTBALL? NONE of which was used to even upgrade the criminal "recruiting room" or anything else that I know of for football. The operating budget for football that year was also less than 10% higher for EIGHTY FIVE football rides (and a lot more coaches, equipment, etc) than for basketball when basketball only has 13 free rides.

For example, Thug U had a recruiting budget that year of about $1,000,000, while UK's was about $300,000. Hell, Midnight Madness costs more than that. And that TU budget probably didn't include the cost of the "recruiting service" that got Oregon in trouble, and surely not the cost of the "Orange Pride's" recruiting trips where they were supposed to give their all for dear old Rocky Top. But maybe you consider that justifiable considering their facilities, in state talent, tradition, "basketball school" reputation, etc etc compared to UK's many advantages. LOL

As I said, I appreciate your knowledge of football and agree with most of it, but it makes me sick to see anyone make mitch out to be football's hero after the way he drove it into the ground for ten years while other SEC teams were using football bonus money to improve the money cow..

You should forget this argument, it just brings up the unpleasant FACTS about the matter, until UK football started losing money hand over fist by losing long time season ticket holders, still a problem-------although I still think a program that averaged 67,000,000 in attendance with a losing SEC record in 07 will still miss all those seats that were removed to satisfy mitch's biggest conceren-------wringing all he can from football.

Things are looking up big time, thanks to Stoops and his plan and the staff's hard work, best to let the unpleasant facts die.

I would have thought someone with 'decade' for a name would know there's 10 yrs in one.....not 4.

Correct, still dismal support until about four years ago after football started losing money hand over fist.

True, but there are still some programs out there that will pay any buyout if they believe he is the perfect fit. Like the Bama's and Texas of the world.
