Its not any different in the sense that they can try to sway existing players and recruits over to the new school if they stick around for the postseason.
There is no concern beyond that, and that concern is there regardless of whether Kiffin coaches in the CFP or not.
It’s pretty simple to me. Kiffin remains to coach at OM through the CFP, he will be spending part of his time preparing them for the CFP games and part of his time preparing for his new assignment, which includes recruiting and staff building at LSU. He doesn’t? Well, then he’s spending 100% of his time recruiting and staff building at LSU. He’s a bigger threat to OM’s existing roster / staff (and a bigger benefit to LSU) if he doesn’t coach in the CFP. He’s a bigger distraction if he’s not in the building than if he is.
You would think adults could come to their senses on this one, and get over their hurt feelings. LSU stands the most to gain from him leaving immediately. They are still in a good spot even if he doesn’t, because they get all sorts of free press with their new guy on TV in the CFP. Ole Miss stands the most to lose for doing really anything to upset the apple cart and make this worse than it already is. They’re on the verge of flushing a historic season down the drain before they can even cash anything in on it. Forcing Kiffin to leave before the CFP is an explicit admission that they don’t think the team is good enough to make noise in the playoff, so they should just rip the band-aid off and move on.
It’s all quite entertaining, though.
Yes. As I have said before I hope you are right and I am wrong. My story fits the Confederates and Kiffen to a T. Now if you are right and I am wrong, it confirms that he is what the USC folks said about him years ago. The fact is no matter what happens, I'm right or you are right, they were right about him. You're still doing this?
Why are we acting like this is anything other than a job for Lane and a valued employee for Ole Miss? Why should both not use all the advantage they have? Would OM be “loyal” to him after a couple of 2-10 seasons? Please! I don’t blame him at all.
Bama ain't going to hire him, not anytime soon anyway. What if Kiffin is waiting out the end of the Auburn / Bama in the hopes of getting the Bama job. Right now, they are tied in the 4th. Bama screws around and loses this game and not only are they not playing for the SEC Championship but they won't make the playoffs for the second year in a row. If that happens, they'll fire DeBoer's ***. Their fans wanted Lane two years ago. Just a thought but he may be delaying for more than one reason.
No. You don't get to move the goalposts. You said there was no market for Kiffin. Nobody wanted him. Now you're changing the argument. But you'll be wrong on this one too because that's what you do.Yes. As I have said before I hope you are right and I am wrong. My story fits the Confederates and Kiffen to a T. This is where you are wrong. Their fan base is clamoring for him. Their administration is going to be desperate if they lose this game. It's the perfect storm and despite what's been said in the past, Saban has spoken highly of him the past couple of years.Bama ain't going to hire him, not anytime soon anyway.
If he leaves I will. And I will be very happy about it!No. You don't get to move the goalposts. You said there was no market for Kiffin. Nobody wanted him. Now you're changing the argument. But you'll be wrong on this one too because that's what you do.
"I was wrong." Try saying it. It will make you a better person.
Their fanbase ain’t got nothing to do with it. Neither does Saban. This is where you are wrong. Their fan base is clamoring for him. Their administration is going to be desperate if they lose this game. It's the perfect storm and despite what's been said in the past, Saban has spoken highly of him the past couple of years.
I agree.. but just know when you do it you’re going to owe him $36MM with no mitigation. This is where you bring a cardboard box to his desk and then walk him out to the front gate.
You are going to have to pay him big to do that. Good luck with that next hire too.I agree.. but just know when you do it you’re going to owe him $36MM with no mitigation.
What did USC folks say about him years ago? That he’s the type of guy who would leave his current job at a place that he had already hit his ceiling….for a $6 million per year raise and a shot at a national title?Yes. As I have said before I hope you are right and I am wrong. My story fits the Confederates and Kiffen to a T. Now if you are right and I am wrong, it confirms that he is what the USC folks said about him years ago. The fact is no matter what happens, I'm right or you are right, they were right about him.
They said he THINKS he is THE GOAT and can't understand why he isn't treated as such.....in so many words. What did USC folks say about him years ago? That he’s the type of guy who would leave his current job at a place that he had already hit his ceiling….for a $6 million per year raise and a shot at a national title?
Damn….what an asśhole****
