Evidently BAMA was not either…They were ready for this new era. We were not.
They've been operating in this era long before it was open. They were ready for this new era. We were not.
MSU is run and has been run by small minded people. They were ready for this new era. We were not.
Yep. They've always been able to buy players. They bought Tunsil and Treadwell (just to name a few) 10 years back. Now there is no ncaa kick them back down. They've been operating in this era long before it was open.
OM has billionaires and millionaires giving in this new era. State does not. They were ready for this new era. We were not.
I’ve always asserted that we are just more grounded. The majority of our people don’t waste money in this way. Pragmatism vs some outsized need to try to convince themselves that they are something that they are not.MSU is run and has been run by small minded people.
Take what we are paying Arnett and Hutzler, add 1.5 to it and poach that 17er. 3.5 for a DC? I don’t care, make him say no.Pete Golding is probably the best recruiter in the business. He's a well above average DC, too
He ain't leaving them. Unless it's for a HC position. His wife is a reb and from thereTake what we are paying Arnett and Hutzler, add 1.5 to it and poach that 17er. 3.5 for a DC? I don’t care, make him say no.
Not true! Some of yall give OM way more credit than they deserve.OM has billionaires and millionaires giving in this new era. State does not.
It’s easy to be a good recruiter when you’re just the middle man between a billionaire and a recruit.Take what we are paying Arnett and Hutzler, add 1.5 to it and poach that 17er. 3.5 for a DC? I don’t care, make him say no.

Small minded. And convinced we're the smart ones despite all evidence to the contrary. We literally see right before our eyes just 90 miles away how to run a football program in a small poor state, and continue to do the opposite.I’ve always asserted that we are just more grounded. The majority of our people don’t waste money in this way. Pragmatism vs some outsized need to try to convince themselves that they are something that they are not.
They have been running this same scheme for 30 years. They weren't ready, they were already professionals at it.They were ready for this new era. We were not.
Ole Miss has always been better at passing around the hat than we are. And simply put, though no one wants to hear it, they have more money than we do. And goes without saying, but those with that money are willing to spend it on buying players. Always have been. They were ready for this new era. We were not.

Sure, but Ole Miss was Average to Awful on defense the last 10 years and they were very good last year. It’s easy to be a good recruiter when you’re just the middle man between a billionaire and a recruit.
Actually it’s closer to 60+ years. It’s a way of life for them..They have been running this same scheme for 30 years. They weren't ready, they were already professionals at it.
I have seen this claim multiple times recently. Please explain how they were "ready" and we were not. They were ready for this new era. We were not.
Yeah but last time I checked, they never played in an SEC Championship game and they didn't make the playoff even with one of the easiest conference schedule in the power 4 ....if you don't make the playoff, it don't matter does it? currently they are at the same level of success as MSU no matter how how you spin it.....Small minded. And convinced we're the smart ones despite all evidence to the contrary. We literally see right before our eyes just 90 miles away how to run a football program in a small poor state, and continue to do the opposite.
Our first attempt at a collective prioritized baseball. Cohen and Leach spent the first year and half of NIL talking out of both sides of their mouth on the issue, mostly telling our fans that NIL was unsustainable and stupid. God bless Charlie Winfield but he felt like he had to start the Bulldog Initiative because a year into this nobody else was doing jack squat for us on the NIL front.I have seen this claim multiple times recently. Please explain how they were "ready" and we were not.
It's not exactly rocket science. NIL = Money In minus Money Out
The greater the money in the greater the money out. What am I missing? MSU has practically pleaded with the fanbase telling them we have to give to the NIL initiative to stay competitive. I am not aware of MSU purposely not trying to spend the money they have. So, what are we doing wrong exactly?
OM has had a slush fund for paying players forever. They've always had a percentage of their fan base that derived their self worth through what they could buy regardless of whether they could afford it or not. They've always been a school that attracts different types of people. Engineers and farmers are just financially more conservative and pragmatic than attorneys and prostitutes! No offense meant, I certainly didn't mean to imply that all MSU graduates were farmers or engineers! It's been my experience that people who exude wealth are not wealthy, they are just depending on tomorrow paying for today.I have seen this claim multiple times recently. Please explain how they were "ready" and we were not.

I didn’t read this thread before jumping to post this… but nobody givesashit about tampering anymore. At this point I only care if we are not. Kiffin understands today’s game. Too bad we don’t.View attachment 725294
In the past, you would expect the hammer to come down.
You are making the mistake of trying to bring logic to this internet circle jerk. Most here are convinced Selmon and Keenum are sitting on a billion dollars of NIL money and just intentionally tanking football. All the while, the people here complaining probably haven't given a damn penny to the effort.I have seen this claim multiple times recently. Please explain how they were "ready" and we were not.

I rarely agree with you but it’s obvious OM is making a push to be a perennial playoff contender. I’m from Starkville, love Starkville, but Oxford has more appeal for those that have, and want to flaunt, their money.Ole Miss has always been better at passing around the hat than we are. And simply put, though no one wants to hear it, they have more money than we do. And goes without saying, but those with that money are willing to spend it on buying players. Always have been.
And then on top of that, they have a good coaching staff that the players know about. We were fine there too until Leach died, and really for a year or so after he died. But now, the players don't have much faith in our coaching.
It's really this simple. I don't know why so many of you have an issue admitting that Ole Miss and MSU are different places with different football cultures.
They’ve been “winning “ signing day forever and that’s equated to them being equal to or behind us since integration. The last two years of complete suck for us just makes us magnify any “success” they have. Ultimately they had a cakewalk schedule, spent $15MM, and they are in the Gator bowl having achieved nothing on the national landscape of what matters these days…Yeah but last time I checked, they never played in an SEC Championship game and they didn't make the playoff even with one of the easiest conference schedule in the power 4 ....if you don't make the playoff, it don't matter does it? currently they are at the same level of success as MSU no matter how how you spin it.....
As I often pointed out to my kids, if that guy has a $100k car and makes $100k a year while I have a $30k car and make $100k a year, who has more money?OM has had a slush fund for paying players forever. Are there any restrictions on schools recruiting from other schools?I didn’t read this thread before jumping to post this… but nobody givesashit about tampering anymore. At this point I only care if we are not. Kiffin understands today’s game. Too bad we don’t.
Don't be an idiot. There's quite a difference between 9-3 and a #12 national ranking and 2-10.Yeah but last time I checked, they never played in an SEC Championship game and they didn't make the playoff even with one of the easiest conference schedule in the power 4 ....if you don't make the playoff, it don't matter does it? currently they are at the same level of success as MSU no matter how how you spin it.....
I’m sorry but this is an extraordinarily dumb way to look at the situation right now. They are about to have their third 10 win season in 4 years, we have two 10 win seasons in the span 80+ years. The worst record Kiffin has had in a full 12 game regular season is 8-4, that is equal to our BEST record since 2014.Yeah but last time I checked, they never played in an SEC Championship game and they didn't make the playoff even with one of the easiest conference schedule in the power 4 ....if you don't make the playoff, it don't matter does it? currently they are at the same level of success as MSU no matter how how you spin it.....
They may not have accomplished much on the field but their name was out there on every cfb show or discussion. People know the Ole Miss name. People know Oxford. This gets students to their campus and top athletes to at least look at them. We’ve acted like publicity doesn’t matter but it does. In today’s world publicity matters as much if not more than results. They’ve been “winning “ signing day forever and that’s equated to them being equal to or behind us since integration. The last two years of complete suck for us just makes us magnify any “success” they have.
