I saw numbers once that had Scruggs and Nutt each making mid500M on the tobacco deal. Not sure if that’s right, posttax, etc, but you’re exactly right. It’s been so long that that could easily be well over a billion at this point. Plus he had some money outside of that.

you're incorrect on all of that except for Leslie Lampton's family. None of the others are even close to billionaires. Not sure where you're getting your information, unless you're a reb and just repeat what your brethren tell you. There are two billionaires in Mississippi, as of today. Jim and Tommy Duff. The Lampton (Ergon) money is all split up now, among the family. I know Amy Walker well, and she graduated from MSU and serves on advisory boards for the school of business and the civil engineering dept construction research. That's Leslie Lampton's granddaughter, and an executive with Ergon.

No reason to argue with you. - but to act like Jim Barksdale “isnt even close to a billion” is laughable when he donated 100 million dollars to the state for literacy in 2000. 24 years ago. If he isn’t- it’s because he’s a philanthropist and have given most of it away. He has done a ton for the state of Mississippi.

He has been great for the state of Mississippi. The technicality of being worth more than 999,999,999.99 is not the point here. There are a state fans and ole miss fans alike that are “close to a billion”. What do you consider close?
