Toured Gainesville yesterday, in Baton Rouge today. Well, at least the family members. It is going to be a long 2 weeks in and around the Grove.

According to NOLA https://www.nola.com/sports/lsu/lsu...8-443c8b404b8c.html#tncms-source=featured-top

LSU officials arranged for a private plane to pick up several of Kiffin’s family members Monday morning in Oxford, Mississippi, sources said, and they flew to Baton Rouge to tour the city.

Yes, yes we do!

So, they've moving to the anger stage of grief. Dude has just brought them their best season since 1960 and this is the thanks he gets. I don't blame him for leaving. Not to mention, what the hell else is Lane supposed to do? He's trying to take care of his freaking son to be sure he'll find a good school to land at before he makes a decision.

My Ole Miss friends are going through it today. At least Dan had the decency to be secretive about it.

LSU board posters are saying a deal has been signed for him to be the coach at LSU
They've been saying that since 5 minutes after Kelly was either fired or not fired. They've also said they Saban was a done deal for $20m/yr and a the promise of the AD job after. Oh and that they wouldn't have to pay Kelly a buyout due to a morality clause. LSU fans, on the whole, are the dumbest SOBs on the planet.

I would love to think that Kiffin isn't prepping for the EB and a big win but my brain tells me it is business as usual at practices. Kiffin isn't blowing off wins over job offers. That includes playoff wins. Im sure he will take one of these jobs, 80% sure, but he has a playoff team right here right now. He will finish the year.

Damn, they are confident they have him on TD:

Knox to Uhigh is real with him enrolling after Thanksgiving break as an NIL offer was presented to the family that wasn't matched from a competing high school in the Baton Rouge area.

Kiffin, Layla, Landry, Knox, and Sexton are currently at LSU looking over the contract which should be finalized in the next 48 hours. With agreement in place he wouldn't coach Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl or the playoff run.

Keeping Baker and defensive staff is top priority from LSU in the agreement with a yearly salary of 13.5 million.

Will update once I get more information. Unless it falls apart last minute Lane is our next head coach.

*I will put a ban bet on it again*

2:50 p.m. UPDATE

LSU is allowing Kiffin to make all staff changes with no promises for defensive staff. Sexton used Florida to get the extra pay bump from LSU as Lane was going to take the LSU deal all along. Ole Miss and LSU were the only real options but within the last 24 hours things really turned in Oxford with the demands to sign his extension or walk. Contract will be signed today with Lane not leaving BR until it's final.

The only this that will burn Ole Miss fans more than Kiffin leaving for LSU is Kiffin leaving for MSU. That is going to be some fun message board reading.

I 100% believe he’s leaving OM this year but I find it real hard to believe that he’s not going to finish out the season for OM. They are a virtual lock for the playoffs and have as good of a shot as anyone at advancing.

Did the Rebels actually give him the ol' tomato of signing his extension or taking a hike? That's got to be the dumbest negotiation ploy ever. Just pay the man if you want him that badly.

OM alum at my office today: Kiffin's not going anywhere! He announced he's staying!

Me: Tuberville said he'd only be leaving Oxford in a pine box.

OM alum: ...

OM alum: Yeah, but that was Tuberville.

UT alum: Hahahaha, you think Lane's staying?
It does not compute to an Ole Miss fan that someone would just leave their perfect little college town, why would anyone just leave that charming little place in North Mississippi?

Don't blame them for not wanting to drag it out. All the schools should put their foot down to these agents and cut these coaches loose. Paying an NFL coach 3.5 mill and a college coach 13 mill and a contract guarantee. Still think it will be Florida, ex wife went to school there and to many ties. Baton Rouge getting to be like Jackson so who wants to live there and deal with the crime.

They are the ones telling him he has to leave. I’m sure he would gladly coach them in the playoffs if they weren’t insisting on pitching a fit because he took a better job.

So, what happens if they wake up on the 28th and Lane still hasn't told them what he's doing?

But, seriously. If he is the guy you really really want coaching your team, why would you tell him he can't coach you in the playoffs unless he commits? Maybe take what you can get, and let him know how badly you want him to stay.
