It’s no secret that OM is in a better spot than we are, but at some point, OM just can’t pay this kind of money to a coaching staff while still having enough left to take care of the roster
If Florida really wants Kiffin & it comes down to money, there’s nothing Mississippi can do. I just hope we don’t see Kiffin leave only to see them hire Franklin. Which is a very real possibility.
Yeah. Feels like Kiffin is going to be the highest paid coach in CFB soon. It's just a matter of whether it's at a program that can afford it or if OM commits to being house poor.
I just hate it for the johnnies. Just HATE it for them. Bless their MF’n piece of $h!+ hearts.

Its a win-win. UMiss goes through the chaos of a coaching change, while UF grossly overpays for yet another coach who will disappoint them.
But what's going on in the UF inner circle? First they leak the Napier firing, now they leak negotiations woth Kiffin?

Keep the rumors going. Now they know how we felt with Mullen every year
Why? One program is in the *******. The other is a top 15 program that recruits well (better than Upig traditionally).
When Mullen was here this would’ve been a rock-solid source for the Clarion-Ledger to write daily articles on why he was likely gone.
I don’t think it’s a match. It’s not always about blue ribbons and bells and whistles.
I can promise you, Saban cannot enter into a coaching scenario today where he cannot have a DISTRICT advantage. It drove him crazy the last few years of his career and it's why he quit. Every year is a financial loss without winning it all, so he took his financial advisors advice and rode on off into the sunset to now sit next to Patty Mac.
He should come to Starkville then. We have the Cotton District; that's gotta be advantageous.

It was run by a bunch of Ole Miss guys and if there was one little rumor about Mullen they would run a 3 page story on it but if news about an Ole Miss coach came out they wouldn’t run anything because they “didn’t like the sources”.
That’s it. I just went and looked at their X profile. Not a peep about Kiffin.
Florida is a trap for coaches. They’ve had 5 HC since Urban left in 2010. They were all canned. They have an expectation problem and see themselves at the level of an Ohio State and Bama.
I suspect Lane is looking at Dan’s experience really closely. Dan had it made in Starkville and with good money; not top dollar though. He took the jump but couldn’t meet those expectations even though he won 2/3 of his games. Then he went into tv.

He may just want to max out the money that Florida will eventually pay him or any other coach, and retire early. Hard to pass up financial security for your great grandkids.
Agreed. Cignetti, whatever his name is, has put a screeching halt on the greener pastures talk.
That s*** no longer matters. If you can spot talent, there’s no need to travel in today’s college football.

Florida is far from a trap. They’ve had 5 coaches since Urban because they’ve made 5 bad hires of 5 candidates who were all mediocre to terrible. Mullen was the only one that was halfway decent, but he had nowhere near the resume of Urban, DeBoer, Kiffin this year, etc….and is nowhere near that caliber of coach. And they had no choice but to fire him after he completely lost the locker room a few years ago. There’s no coming back from that.
Yeah and openly stating in a press conference that he recruits when the season is over, that's what got him. They wanted a full time coach. We put up with it. They want championships which requires full effort in every aspect. You can win in Florida if you're a good coach. One of the easiest things should be recruiting there. Mullen wasn't doing that. That's why they moved on. Everyone should know that. Kiffen knows that.
Florida is not a bad job, but LSU has a better recruiting record. They don't have to compete with Florida State and Miami for recruits.
yeah, Mullen is a good coach but his personality is a problem. Their locker room had gone to **** and he was at odds with his bosses over asst. coaches, etc.
