magna vista goes down...may not be first rd. though....they just dont have enough heart

You might be my new favorite poster. I've been geekin' at every other post. I'm guessing from your "Phoebus is king, the rest of 3A is irrelevant" posts that you live in HPT and root for the Phantoms? I'm not going to assume you know nothing of 3A West teams, so I'll ask you. What do you know about 3A West teams? Since they all apparently don't deserve to be on the field with Phoebus, which team(s) do think from the West will be lucky enough to play on the same field and get embarrassed in the state semi's and state finals? Don't just give me a team name, I'm trying to get an explanation. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for your response, don't disappoint me.

In the east Warhill at #7 may very well do in #2 seed Poquoson. Went to 2OT in regular season.

sorry friend, dont see that happening. my friend coaches there, the warhill team had one play from the kickoff(coach says thats their handicap) and the other fumble inside the red, other than that their star rb had 53 yrds on the night...poq. lost both starting rbs and mlb, de, and rt for this game..they are all back. i see it 35-13 poq...

since you asked im picking brooksville,,,,then lb, then-who cares cuz their out...but ns or mg could have a lucky day if the other two dont play good defense as they have all year...the bees have what could be 4 d1 players on d...ill agree they are missing that 'one' player that could put them over the top so im not holding my breath with them...mv barely beat a team that had no qb last season, they lost to jf by 53 in just one qtr...ouchy, losing to at gw team that has one of the weakest schedules in the state....but they do get the very weak side of the bracket so they could by surprise make it to state...we've been watching bv all year so we think we will see them but havent been impressed with mg but good luck to them and i hope they do...make it the cherry on my cake

Some substance, I like it. We scrimmaged Brookville and I've been high on them since. Their chances hinge on health. LB played a pretty weak schedule too. Based on scoring they've probably got the best defense. Defense wins games in the late rounds. I'm not sure I truly believe they have the best defense but we'll find out soon. I'm going with the Western/MV winner and Northside to be the West reps.

What happened with the scrimmage between you guys and Western? I was planning on attending.

Between JM and Hopewell, who do you think is tougher opponent for Phoebus?

Phoebus is the pick by everyone to win the division, but weren't they picked to win D4 when they were in there and didn't?

Let's just let the playoffs play out like they do.

I think D3 will have more upsets than any Division within VHSL. I seem to recall a #16 seed knocking off a #1 seed last year.

Possible 4 D1s on defense then how in the world is the defense giving up soo many points in Seminole play? I know injuries have been a factor but their secondary was suppose to be great and they have been passed on and the the front 7 is good but...maybe I don't understand football. I think their defense is highly overrated and their play in the Seminole holds true to that...imo.

both are so equally close, im giving the nod to jm simply cuz they've been to the show ...not a good answer i know...it was that or flip a coin....i really wanted to jump on the hopewell train, nevertheless jms d and qb may give it to them over hope...too close to call....hope well was only leading tabb 21-13 at the start of the 4th..and jm squeaked by an avg. york team..so they are both vulnerable...but they both have stong finishes to their season so maybe the bugs are out or players coming into their own...or the other teams started to breakdown and these two have the depth to keep the wheels turning

You didn't say what happened with the Western Albemarle scrimmage? Whats the story with that cancellation?

We scrimmaged JM this year as well. They had so many new faces on offense and it was first scrimmage so I wasn't overly impressed by them that day. Obviously 10-12 weeks later, they are probably a much better football team. They weren't lacking for athleticism on either side of the ball, just struggled to execute that day. I know nothing about Hopewell other than highlights from hudl and news stations. I will say soph RB Ronnie Walker looks like he's going to be very good. Runs hard with good pad level. Bright future for that young man. East will be boring for the first few rounds but intriguing matchups in RD 3. The West will be boring in rd 1 but it's going to liven up in rd 2.

One question for anyone who may know, If both Hopewell and Phoebus win their pods as #1 seeds, who would host West #2 for the semifinal and who travels to West #1?

Good question on the double #1's one man. As far as the WAHS/PHS scrimmage I had heard that it was a scheduling issue. In other words PHS failed to properly schedule the scrimmage with what ever protocol they have and they did not have a field to play on. Again, I am getting this second hand from a WAHS individual.

I really wish it had happened. We'd have a better idea of where each team stacked up, regardless of it being a scrimmage. Imagine the same overconfident Phoebus fans' reactions if WA had dominated the scrimmage.

That's like saying Phoebus must be vulnerable because they only beat Bethel 7-0. What happened in September is long behind us. Hopewell's 6 game win streak has them pointed in the right direction. As long as they take it week by week and don't overlook and/or underestimate their opponents then they have a real shot at advancing.

Thats interesting. I thought the scrimmage was supposed to be at Western? I wouldn't have been attending if it was in Hampton. Well whatever the case, I hope they make it happen next year because I for one would be interested in seeing how the two teams matchup.

How's Monticello feeling about their draw? Should be a great crowd with short trip over the mountain for Waynesboro folk. Aside from the Louisa game, which I watched on film, your Mustangs have had a good 2nd half of the season. Likely 2nd round trip to Northside if everyone takes care of business. That'll be an interesting game. Lloyd's pressure defense has given people fits, it's an uncommon brand of defense at this level. Good luck to you guys, make the JD proud this postseason!

Like I said, got my information from a Western source, so sure of the veracity of the account. But you are right, it of no importance now.
As for our draw: Well if we had taken care of our business a little better in a couple of games I would like it more. Prefer home playoff games to road ones, but we are in the dance so I can't complain too much! Waynesboro is a good football team with plenty of athleticism and speed on both sides of the ball. They run a triple offense similar to you guys at C-Ville, so hopefully having had to deal with your speed and athleticism it will have helped prepare us for the game. I am looking forward to the game, our guys have turned it on down the stretch, just got to keep them going. The Louisa game was a watershed moment for us. We played poorly, they kicked our *** (as it should have been kicked) We would have had to have played a great game to beat them so no excuses, Louisa is coming on strong right now as well! It did convince us to change a few things we were doing on the defensive side of the ball and I won't lie, its been a lot of fun watching our guys grasp the new concepts and run with them. We havent really looked ahead in the bracket to much yet, we have our hands full with tonights opponent and don't want to overlook anything in round one. Appreciete the support, and ours goes out to all of the JD teams playing tonght as well.

No,LT has had that zipped for awhile ,with Phoebus on just outside.
