The CONSTANT stroking that cardinals fans get from sports media. You'd think they are the only fans that cheer for their players or don't constantly boo. Jeezum, it's a nice baseball city, but no better than a half-dozen others.

Although they do stroke it its completely true, it's the best baseball town in the nation because baseball is priority 1 all year round. And I agree, I sometimes hate the Astros more than the Cubs just because of how dumb their fans are. One of the best moments of my life was watching Pujols stroke one against Lidge in the 2005 NLCS

for Game 4 of the World Series. As a huge Red Sox fan, and a fairly obnoxious smack talking *******, I couldn't believe how tolerant and nice the STL fans were. I was getting a beer around the 4th inning, and a guy sitting near me just up and bought it for me. No reason other than to say hey jackass, everything you've heard about us is true.

I took an internship in St. Louis a few years ago and loved it. For a big city, they have some of the kindest people in the nation. Not pretentious cocksuckers like Atlanta. Most of the people I met from St. Louis are real down to earth hard working people. It reflects in their fan base. Of course, there are cocksuckers everywhere, but St. Louis seems to have a lower percentage than most big cities.

They get a base hit and they go nuts like its a game winning hit in the World Series.

How would we Astro fans know what a game winning hit in the World Series feels like?

Wow, the Astros hate is strong tonight. You know as I do the Cub fans are the dumbest, pal. (No JackAssBob) How did you like the outcome of that 2005 series?

Nice is correct. They are the nicest fans in baseball, which is why the announcers like them. I don't know if nicest = best baseball town though. I think Red Sox fans are the most passionate about their baseball personally.

they're very, very knowledgable. That's one reason why I love going up there, everyone knows what's going on- even the women.

My favorite Busch Stadium moment- Jim Edmonds hit a walk-off home run, and I swear to this day, and I've been to LSU at night, that was the absolute loudest I have ever heard a stadium get. The ground was literally shaking. Some guy from Iowa gave me a man hug that almost lasted too long, but other than that it was unbelievable.

One time, someone figured out that I was from Mississippi, and the whole section kind of adopted me. Sidney Ponson was pitching, and someone told me to drop his fat *** off in Memphis on my way back home. It was hilarious. They couldn't believe I drove all the way there. I guess they didn't realize it was only eight hours up there from Jackson. It's not that bad. But they made a guy from Mississippi totally feel at home.

Another time, I went with one of my friends to a Cubs/Cards game. My friend that I went with is a Giants fan, so he didn't really care that much one way or the other about the outcome of the game. So, he wasn't really cheering all that hard, and a girl, who was pretty hot started to make him cheer and get into the game. I told him that next time, he better at least wear something red.

I echo what everyone says about St. Louis. It's an All-American, blue-collar town, and it's bascially a bunch of suburbs and communities.

"You got St. Louis and Boston, but you've got to go with St. Louis, because baseball clearly is their favorite sport," he says. "In Boston, you've got the Bruins and Celtics and Patriots. In Detroit, you've got the Red Wings. The Cubs are competing with the Bears (in Chicago). "But in St. Louis, it's all baseball. The chasm that exists between their baseball team and other sports teams is greater than (in) any other city."

for pure game day experiernce, there's no place better than Wrigley. And the World Series game in Boston that I went to in '07 was incredible -- more in tents than the WS game in STL. But as far as fans go, STL has the best.

I watched a 4-game series at Busch and saw this happen. Incidentally, the next day was when Jack Buck had his statue dedicated before the game and he mentioned was upset at the fan reaction.

Edited to clarify

The day of that game, they were having a promotion where they were giving out baseballs to all of the fans. And I clearly remember this game, because it was one of the worst umpired games I have ever watched. This was when Glavine was in his prime and getting a good inch off of the outside corner. The umpire called a strike on Big Mac and then after McGwire said something, ******* kicks LaRussa and McGwire out. I think the umpire is full of it. And the pitch was a ball.

The reason the fans got pissed was not only did he throw McGwire out, but he threw him out so quickly.

Remember the dude from Oklahoma State that mooned the lounge for "racial slurs"? (His words, not mine)

And that was during a regional to.

but similar. The Joey Belle incident occurred in the 1987 SEC Tournament between MSU and LSU. I have seen video of said incident- all of a sudden you see this State fan come out of the pine trees that are behind the outfield wall pointing and yelling at Belle, and all of a sudden Joey goes nuts.

Urban legend is the MSU fan in the woods who appeared a la sasquatch was none other than the bus driver Everett Kinard.

When it comes to passion, it is hard to beat what goes on in New York and Boston. Those two cities are completely nuts about baseball

Boston might have the Celtics and Bruins, but those teams dont come close to the passion that city has for the Red Sox.
