KSR sometimes is painful to listen to.....Ellen Degeneres?

Yeah, he's so wrong about what everyone wants to hear. That's why no one ever listens to it.
Definitely not successful at all and no one listens or anything.....just a top rated local sports radio show that no one is listening to 
Definitely been hard to listen the last few months. I think it’s a combination of no sports being played but his constant interjection of his political nonsense. I love listening to political debate. But I Absolutely can’t stand listening to a cast of people that all agree with one another and pretend like that’s a general consensus. Too frustrating to listen to.
But oddly enough most successful talk radio shows do exactly that. Does Rush, Hannity or any of the opinion shows on CNN, Fox, or MSNBC have shows with differing or diverse opinions? Serious question, what successful radio or tv shows out there do?
Glad I don't listen, it's that simple. They are a little market venue, you get what you get.
Exactly why I like to listen to music so much. I control the content and keeps me in the mood I want to be in. If I listen to the news throughout the day I’m destined to be pissed off.
When I do get my news I prefer to read it. This way I don’t have to listen to the nonsense of a commentator (s).
Probably an outdated take but it keeps me sane.

not sure about Rush Limbaugh. Haven’t listened to that in probably 20 years and frankly didn’t even know it was still on the air. None of the other political shows I really listen to much but they absolutely have debates. Watch any of the Fox News shows on during the week and it’s constantly having opposing viewpoints on. Are you being serious?
Matt loves to constantly give his opinions and if anyone calls in or wants to disagree he basically talks over them and then changes the subject and says he doesn’t want to get into it. That’s what I find incredibly annoying. I don’t like being preached to. Maybe you do and enjoy the show and that’s fine.
Actually, Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Laura Ingraham, do have people on their shows from the left for discussions. Not every single night, but quite regularly. It usually turns in to a shouting match, which is not fun to listen to, but they do have them on their show. By the way, I am not trying to turn this in to a political post, or hijack the original post. I am just trying to give an answer to a question from a fellow poster.
As for Matt Jones, I have quit listening to him this summer, because without sports, it does get too political for me. I look forward to listening to him again during football season.
May be outdated but that’s how I get mine too. I quit watching any news several year ago and it’s been a blessing. Rarely listen to any sports talk anymore because it’s all about some movement. It’s all political now. So I listen to music or watch commercial free TV. I’ve been so much happier since then. Pour a drink and grab my guitar and play.
I’ll never understand why people continually post about KSR on here when it doesn’t pertain to sports. If you don’t like it why listen or post about it?

On Fox, Tucker Carlson occasionally brings on a Dem / Liberal. Also on the five on Fox, Juan is a liberal surrounded by four repubs. So, a little I guess. I don't like to watch too much news though as it gets me fired up and I prefer to be more laid back. So, bring on the UK football! Of course that gets me fired up to but in a good way
Quit listening months ago. Have to think his numbers are plummeting.
There have been multiple instances in the last couple weeks where Matt invited someone on the completely opposite end of the spectrum to stay on the line through a commercial break to continue their very-civil political conversation. Just sayin'.
He’s changed a lot in that aspect and he is cordial when he disagrees. He used to just get angry and hang up on them.
They aren’t. I don’t even listen very often, but in the last ratings reports his ratings were still very strong.
Its so they can get pats on the back from other KSR haters, I think.
I left the state almost a decade ago and still hear about a local radio host and what he discusses all the time because people who dislike him can't stop talking about him. It's nuts.
I think this is a perfect example of the "stick to sports" idea. Those shows are geared towards politics, left or right. KSR is (was), one would think, supposed to be about sports with the some goofy stuff (fast food tournament and the like) thrown in with occasional topics/segments that would highlight certain areas of the state.
Stuff that crosses the aisle so to speak. Essentially sports talk with some lighthearted fun thrown in. I would venture to guess most people listen(ed) to KSR for that very reason. Sports and laughs.
As soon as modern day politics gets involved, that's all over. The sports and laughs are filled with garbage, in comparison.
That being said, I'm completely fine with him doing what he wants. It's his show and it has proven to be a success for many years, so he must be doing something right. I just choose not to listen. I actually haven't listened to much sports radio since March when everything started shutting down anyway. But, if I do listen during the KSR time slot, it's generally The Dan Patrick Show mainly for NBA talk (Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Chris Mannix, Chris Broussard, etc), but even that has been soured a bit by the current state of affairs.
EDIT: Just wanted to add that I didn't quit listening because he went political or mentions political views on occasion which I don't agree with. I quit listening because there weren't any UK sports being played in March, April, May, etc and now that I've been working from home since then, I've gone to listening to music instead with occasional sports thrown in now that the NBA and other sports are coming back (tennis, golf).

The average fan has been replaced by his woke brigade that follows him around on Twitter. Liberal talk radio with some UK mixed in at this point. This is what Matt always wanted...a chance to dance political for two hours a day and no sports to get in the way...

I used to listen to KSR almost everyday, but honestly, I listen to shows like that to escape politics and my everyday life.
Matt feels like he needs to use his platform to advance his political agenda, and I respect that, but I have the right to not listen anymore...

As a daily listener, I don't hear the political talk that many seem to hear. Sure, he will occasionally tweet something about politics, but on his show, every time a caller begins to say something political, he actually cuts them off so that show does not become about politics. To me, the show is at its best when it gets away from sports talk and goes off topic as I'm not a listener for their sports takes. They get the most feedback from listeners on random topics versus sports topics. Matt has even stated this on the show multiple times recently.
In the end, if you want a sports only show, I'd listen to Leach and while I love Tom as a football broadcaster, his radio show is generally sleep inducing to me. But, people are going to like what they like and that is perfectly fine. If we all liked the same thing, it would be a pretty boring world.

He never crosses my mind unless someone on here brings him up, but then again, I'm not on here much anymore either.
Sports in general have stolen my escape from serious issues, so I find my escape in other places.
I stopped listening over 3 years ago. And I will never understand why he took the show into a political direction which obviously alienates at least 50% of a potential audience. Michael Jordan understood the importance of steering clear of political stands in business when he said "Republicans buy shoes too" when asked to be outspoken on a political race.

I've been listening since 2006. I have there old podcasts on my iTunes. They used to be great back in the day because he was a pitbull. He'd go after UofL and the old guard of journalists. UK fans finally had someone that stood up for them and took on people that (right or wrong) didn't go with UK fan interests.
He's very successful and talented. His show isn't entertaining or good to listen to when he's on vacation or away.
I don't care what his politics are, but the majority of his audience is conservative. The Last Dance took a dive into Michael Jordan's quote "Republicans buy shoes too". When the opposing side calls him in regards to objecting a statement he makes he doesn't treat them the best. There are times he tries to brush it off to avoid confrontation, but for the most part he treats them like they don't matter and there not smart enough to talk to him about that subject. It would never happen, but if the conservatives he chastises stop listening to him and stop going to restaurant then it would affect his pocket book.
I don't believe in inter-sectionality. It doesn't make any sense that I should agree with 100% of everything you believe just because of one common interest. For instance, him saying Clay Travis makes fun of UK fans so therefore UK fans shouldn't like him. Just because Clay Travis, who likes our rival, makes fun of UK/UK fans doesn't mean I can't agree or support something he views socially or politically.

Not at all. I used to listen to him at work but got tired of his constant liberal views on everything. It wouldn’t be bad if people could disagree with him and him not act like a cry baby but he would literally cut people off or try and make him look stupid. Just got old.
This is the exact reason I dropped all live TV and radio back in March.
I stick to music, LinkedIn Learning, work, old Addams Family, etc...
I have been way happier.

I agree with this completely. I think people hear politics because they want to. Today, he talked about a story in the news that Ellen wasn't nice to her staff. He then went on to discuss what celebrities people would be sad to hear are mean when they give off the appearance of being really nice like Ellen did on her show? It was a random topic and to me that is when the show is at its best. I like the sports stuff as well but the pop culture stuff they do is really enjoyable and does usually result in more interaction with the audience.
