Yes, they are!

I love Self, great coach and he is funny.

But before NIL, the reason you tried to get to KU or UNC or Duke and a few other schools was because of the institutional cheating that had been going on for years.

Now, everyone can do it "legally"

I do think KU will have an okay year and probably make the sweet 16. I also think Self is retiring and that KU job is not as amazing as it was a few years ago. They would kill to get Nate Oates but unless they are going to double his salary, why leave Bama now?

It has nothing to do with their great environments, coaching, etc.? Never been to Duke or NC but playing games at Phog Allen would seem pretty amazing as a college kid.

They curb stomped Iowa State last night. Not sure what this is in reference to.
It wasn’t in reference to their game last night. They’re unranked which was talked about on an ESPN radio show yesterday. I didn’t even know they were playing last night. There have been multiple stories over the years about them giving illegal inducements to family members of recruits such as players driving new cars licensed to uncles. Now, everybody can pay players.

I am sure it helps!

Duke is a pit and before the 80's was pretty lame but I have heard the games there are amazing.

I think one thing that happens is that we as fans tend to get a bit more romantic about the idea of those places where the recruits might not think about it the same. Not always but sometimes.

Guess you never saw I.M. Hipp show up to campus in a brand new T-Top Monte Carlo coming from a dirt floor shanty in South Carolina. It’s happens with the best of them. 😉

Clemson football is another example. People can say Dabo lost good assistant
Coaches ( he did) must it mostly had to do with buying players.

IM Hipp was a walk on. I doubt your story. I do believe we had a few guys detailing cars at area dealerships who might have been allowed to test drive them at times😉

The story is true as witnessed with my own two eyes (Perhaps he got it detailing). ;)

I don’t think the “everyone can pay now” argument is quite as relevant in basketball as you are only talking about 8-10 guys tops on a roster. As opposed to football, you’re not stacking 3-4 deep rosters.

I think the portal is the bigger factor as guys are not willing to wait their turn…which coaches like Self and Coach K were masters at. They are/were development guys turning unheralded freshmen like Frank Mason into NPOY by the time they were seniors. You don’t/won’t see that anymore.
