Jeez. Let people and pastors decide if they want to have church. Mine already has hand sanitizers everywhere and limits communion and hand shaking in flu season. We have never had a member pick up the flu or any other virus in church.
He recommended it. It is not a mandate. He has actually done exactly what you said you want, leaving it up to the individual churches and congregations to decide, if you'd read the article.
We have circulated a notice to our members on how to take precautions while at church gatherings and advised to stay home if experiencing symptoms like cold or flu.

I get coronavirus, first Sunday I'm going to Westboro Baptist and licking the door handles.
People can talk about republicans vs democrats or rich vs poor or black vs white but I think our biggest divide as a society is headline vs article readers.

Talked to someone online that was officially diagnosed by the VA and had it. Said it was like bad cold with a fever, and lasted about a week. Although he said he was still having a little dry cough into the second week, but is feeling much better. He said it's way overhyped. This driven mass hysteria has gone beyond stupid.

Actually, it’s not overhyped, nor is it hysteria. They’re trying to slow the exposure so they can slow the impact of numbers of people seeking medical attention. For some people the infection will lead to respiratory issues. That requires medical attention. Imagine if a million people all needed medical attention over a two week period. We don’t have the resources to treat that many in such a short window of time. The impact is lessened if they can spread that over several months.
There's no evidence you can get it by handling snakes.
Our church isn't cancelling anything, although we will take proper precautions.

All this overblown hype is CONTRIBUTING to the numbers of people seeking medical attention. Everyone is so scared now with everything canceling that might be more likely to run out to the doctor at the first sign of a sniffle.

Most churches will meet anyway, and will pray about the pandemic from pulpits. I, for one, still think God hears those prayers.

For me, he singled out churches. Didn't hear him say anything about other indoor events that last longer than 1-2 hours.
They can decide for themselves. Church is a good place in times of crisis for people.
Not a huge fan of this gov. But how in the world would you know if a church member ever got the flu or a virus at church. Good grief.
