Lack of kickoff and punt returns a real problem

For an offensively challenged team.

The lack of attempts at having an open field runner is just error. Punts somewhat understandable especially if there is a punt block attempt.

Kick off there is no excuse. It’s the best opportunity for an offensively challenged team. If you are concerned that your retuurner has a fumbling problem, then get a different returner. But dont give up on the open field potential.

Head scratching. He did want to ban kickoffs..Is Greg still paranoid about having another catastrophic injury on special teams?

Rochelle Al salaam - these guys could do things in the open field.

A fair catch on the one. And near end zone. Smh

It's just another piece of the ultra conservative, play to keep it close, mindset. That may work against crap teams but we'll never beat better teams that way. Go f$cking take it! If you still lose, so be it. At least you went after it instead of this crap.

According to the guys on the radio broadcast, we are number one in the country in yards per kickoff return.

Very frustrating I turn on CBS must be 1/2 time of game 1st thing I see Alabama punt returner fielding it and taking it to the house. The other team could only have their punter on the field and we would still fair catch....over the years with GS 1.0 we had so many big plays from Kick & punt returns teams and GS 2.0 disregards that part of the game and the way to flip fields 100^

Makes sense.
We had 2 returns for 110 yards coming into the game.
55 yards per return average.

Talk about lack of context on a stat.

Agreed. Don't understand this, unless it's geared towards minimizing injuries and preserving depth, as we usually play some starters and key reserves on these plays.

I don’t understand, why was Greg so aggressive on special teams his first go around?

The lack of a return game is not a Rutgers issue - it is a national trend if you are watching college football. The rules have changed the game but it needed to happen for obvious reasons.

Two of the more exciting plays in football are punt and kickoff returns for TDs. Sad to see less of them.

Weird.
KO returns are another way to score we’ve completely neutered.
