...especially this coming Thursday night at 7pm. The Tennessee Volunteers, the ONLY team in the SEC we have never beaten, come into the Hump. Talk to your friends, and come to the game. It is only $5.00 for an adult ticket and $3.00 for children.

Anyone who loves exciting basketball would have loved the game yesterday. With only about 10:00 left, our team was behind by 18 points to Ole Miss. We finished out the game on a 25-4 run and won. It was one of the biggest comebacks in MSU Sports. Take the time to come. We had 3100 for Ole Miss. During the run, the noise was deafening in the Hump. Bring your kids and lets beat the Vols!

facilities due to title ix? What have they done to "deserve" crowd's that don't like women's basketball and have limited resources in today's economy?

was michelle snow dunking in pregame warmups around 2001. not once, but TWICE. she threw it down with one hand, and then, for good measure, threw it down a two-handed power slam.

our team was really good then, ut was number 1, and it was free to get in. i don't think there were more than 6000 for that game. and we should've beaten tennessee a couple of times. damn that kara lawson.

I doubt that. She dunked...but power slam?

UT is beatable this year...they're also pissed at losing to Vandy..so they could also beat the ever loving **** out of us.

but it wasn't the dunk you usually see from women. she even hung on the rim like shaq used to do. this was before the teams went back to the locker rooms. the crowd was stunned - it was impressive.

1. The titty dawgs definitely need support. Good for them for having a very good season. I will say though, it's about damn time, but let's see a good tournament run before we go giving Fanning contract extensions.

2. With 3100 I seriously doubt it was deafening.

3. We will NOT beat the UT Vols in any form of basketball this year.

I guess I'm the only person in America who doesn't have all of my livelihood in the stock market.

This Vol team is not as good without Candy Parker.

All I know about our team is that we've got three chicks from the Congo. I call them the Congo Posse.

Anyway, I'm just not into all of that free throw shooting and layups. I want to see some power slams or a reverse windmill. MJ spoiled me.

They don't make any money off women's basketball anyway. If they made it free more people would go. With that said, I will not be attending the UT game.

Edited to say: Unless the girls resemble the ones below.

to say as a State fan. However, I am sure most of yall know this. Women's basketball is as important to some fans (and more so to ESPN) as baseball is to State fans. Most UT fans I know, could tell you more about women's bball than their baseball. Now, to me, as a fan of the game of baseball in general. I can not imagine being a bigger fan of women's college basketball than college baseball (not that you can not be a fan of both). However, some people view college baseball as insignificant as some (on this message board) view women's bball. The women are deserving of support and if someone wants to support them....then great. Because we are going to field a women's team regardless of anyone's opinion on women playing sports. It is just another embarrassment for the school when they play in an empty coliseum and field pathetic teams because they have no support.

I don't follow women's bball like I do men's or baseball. However, I hope they can get back on track and be very competitive in the SEC tournament. I was certainly looking forward to watching them play in tournament back when they were undefeated.

While I am on the soap box. I know Fanning takes some shots here. But the lady has done a good job. I know she has failed in post season. However, she took over a program that was probably the most pathetic of all of State's athletic programs. To achieve what she has at State, given the history, is damn good.

...I don't know anything about MSU girls basketball, but I keep reading that Sharon Fanning went international with her recruiting & it's paying off.

That's what happens when:

1) You are pissed off at losing to the point you are willing to make major changes in your recruiting strategy.

2) You actually dare to think outside the box.

Meanwhile, the prevailing mantra from the Big 3 mens coaches @ MSU: "We can really built a strong program @MSU if we can just keep all the Mississippi kids at home."

Given, I've only been a State fan since 2000, but unless you were a student, you've needed a ticket to get since at least then.

Football, men's basketball, baseball and women's basketball need tickets. All other sports have free admittance, unless something has changed there recently.

...Sharon Fanning and Mary Katherine Govero did me a great favor this past summer by arranging for Mary Kat to play some 1 on 1 with my cousin's niece who plays club basketball in Italy. Mary Kat is a sophomore who starts for us at the #3. Since they were so nice to us, I promised Mary Kat I would come to games. Since I have been going, I have been very impressed with the team. They play a wide open, entertaining brand of basketball. There are three girls on the team from the Congo, and one, Chanel Mokango is 6-5. Amelie (Meli) Lomanu is the 2 guard who starts, and may be the most complete athlete on the team.
