Saturday night several bikes were stolen from the Astana team competing in the Tour of California. One of the bikes stolen was Lance Armstrong's time trial bike. When interviewed about it Armstrong said, "I don't see how anyone could think they could get away with it. It's the only bike like it in the world. If the guy wants to just keep it in his bedroom and never let anyone see it, then good for him. But if he shows it to anyone, word will get out and he'll be caught."

After the opening time trial and the first stage, Armstrong is in 5th place overall. His teammate's Levi Leipheimer, Chris Horner, and Chechu Rubiera are in 2nd, 6th, and 7th respectively. The team goal is to get a repeat win for Leipheimer in this event. In just a few years, this event has become one of the better ones in the world, attracting many of the top European riders and teams.

That is pretty funny though; stealing a bike you can never show or ride.

Let me be the first to say that if you placed Lance Armstrong's bike in a group of ten bikes, I wouldn't be able to pick out which one is Lance Armstrong's.

Armstrong seemed pretty pissed about the bike being stolen. It's not like he's on a <17>'n tight budget will not be able to afford another custom made bike.

I wonder if I can get it on the cheap from Ebay?

Who knew biking could be some damn expensive. And I though picking up golf cost money.

For one, it's got all kinds of customized **** on it that identify it as being Armstrong's bike. For another, if you put it up against 10 ordinary bikes that local cyclists would ride, it would stand out like a Ferrari standing alongside 10 Honda Civics.

And he didn't seem to be all that pissed in the interview I saw. At least no more than you would expect him to be. He's got a backup bike ready for next Sunday's final time trial if this one doesn't turn up by then.
