Are they?

again I’d switch places with their last 5 years but they’ve spent a lot of money and had a super easy schedule the entire time and haven’t over achieved by any means.

id argue they have underachieved based on expectations.

IM NOT SAYING THEY ARENT OR HAVENT BEEN GOOD!!!
The easy schedule is pretty much meaningless within a year afterwards. I mean it still matters in that an easy schedule will be the difference between 9-3 making the playoffs or not, and people will remember whether you've been in the playoffs or not, but nobody really remembers or cares outside of that. Probably the only people that remember how easy Ole Miss's schedule was last year are state fans, and that's with having the same schedule this year.

Their QB situation is good for MSU. The D2 guy is a good game manager and would do well being named the permanent starter. On the flip side, Ole Miss fans believe Simmons is a “generational talent” and his NIL is 7 figures. You can’t keep Simmons on the bench, so there is a good chance of locker room problems come time for the Egg Bowl. Simmons likes to throw INT’s so I figure that bodes well for us.

You would have thought them losing Simmons and started a D2 transfer would have made them miss a beat but they dominated Arkansas offensively. Trinidad and Tobago actually looked better than Simmons to me. We aren't sure how good Arkansas's defense is but Kiffin can dial up some offense.
He's pretty much their Dan Mullen.

Two things from my observation.
1) They get a very favorable sec schedule year after year.
2) Their play calling and execution has been some of the best I’ve seen. I feel almost certain they will get that 4th down conversion no matter the situation.

I hope he never leaves. Ole Miss being good at football will motivate State to be better even more. Some people at the university will only get off their *** and do something when Ole Miss is winning.

If you look at the box score, Arkansas outplayed them, and the turnover was the difference. And obviously home field. I'm not nearly as high on them as so many others.

They might lose to Tulane. Trap game between Arkansas and LSU. And Tulane is good.

Just wait till you see their schedule next year. They’ve got at Charlotte & Wofford non conference. They don’t have a non conference P4 game scheduled until 2032. Not sure what their strategy for the P4 mandate is. Can’t keep using the “but Wake cancelled on us” excuse forever.

Eh, Lebby ain't too shabby. You would have thought only winning 2 games last year we wouldn't be in position to be 4-0 after Sat.

DS your man crush for Kiffin & love for OM is strange.

Not that this changes much but they did recently add a home and home with Pitt beginning next year in Oxford.

He's a good coach, no arguing that. I'm surprised he's still in Oxford, as are most, but at this point, I'm not sure why he'd leave. What upside would he have going literally anywhere else? He's got the Mullen treatment in Oxford, and in this new college football, there isn't a ton of risk of stringing together 3-4 bad years.

And he’s kept his nose clean, too. I didn’t expect that. I figured he’d have been up some some of his usual shenanigans by now, but nope.
That's easier to do now since paying players outrageous sums is the norm. If you mean "off the field" shenanigans, maybe he's just being more careful.

I think he's done an excellent job managing a college program in the NIL era. He's been consistently ahead of the GM portion of the game.

I think he's a C/C- game manager. Maybe he's improved to a C+/C, but that part of his career lags behind his program manager skill.

No matter what, he's been a very good college coach for almost a decade. There's no reason you can't acknowledge that as a State fan. It has nothing to do with us.
