The bigger take I got, is he seems to like to play the chess match game (like Beck). I'm not saying this is bad per se, but I started to get the feeling that he tries to go after whatever the defense is allowing, which sometimes I think is not the right solution.
.
Impossible, the recruiting guru's on this board classified him as not scholarship worthy when he was offered.-Sounds like Ozigbo may be on the verge of being the guy.
coordinators - esp with an NFL history - need to understand that a play or entire offensive gameplan that should work based on the defense isn't always a play or gameplan your team is able to execute
the chess match is more applicable to the NFL where the talent is more equal and practice time is such that near perfect execution can be expected
do what you do best and make the defense stop it rather than calling plays based on what the defense dictates but which you may be unable to execute
a twenty yard out was a gimme scheme wise when Mickey Joseph was under center but you didn't see TO dialing that one up time and time again
too many coordinators focus on scheme and play calls without enough attention to personnel
Football is a chess match. This is what all coordinators do at all times.
This is really good stuff. There is always an element of the chess match but you have to also understand your strengths and the situation.coordinators - esp with an NFL history - need to understand that a play or entire offensive gameplan that should work based on the defense isn't always a play or gameplan your team is able to execute
