Weird, if you read the link. 4 "experts", one has him as the top pick, one has him as the 6th pick, and two don't have him in the first round at all.

I can only guess that the first two experts are impressed by the way he can take a sack for a loss of 20 yards while the other two are not so much?

Absurd.

No one is picking this kid if he keeps running backwards and out of bounds for losses. Utterly absurd. He's not going to the NFL as of today. He needs massive improvement.

He plays QB like my sons play the NCAA video game, keep dropping back as far as you can, and heave it deep. On,y difference, he never heaves it deep. We should let our guys go up and make plays some times.

NFL scouts probably assume he'll be playing a strong OL in the pros.

Shoot, he'd be playing behind a stronger OL at most high schools.

I think he's really good, but honestly, I don't think he should be near the top. Regardless of OL play, which we all know has been horrible.... he holds the ball too long, takes too many sacks, and just hasn't shown he can throw very accurately on a super-consistent basis. I think he's great and could be phenomenal, but some of the decisions he makes are still head-scratching, and I don't think it should be that way for a really high pick.

To all the people who say he is "great", I don't see it. He is a great athlete but he isn't close to being a great qb.

Torn. He sure looked great down the stretch last year, but when you back away, his biggest plays were improvised after the pocket collapsed.

Hence, the "great athlete" point. He looked great at the end of last season but he really didn't look like a great qb, he looked like a great athlete making something out of nothing. During the great run of games to end last season, the team looked like a HS team with a really great athlete at qb. The defense last year also covered up a lot of deficiencies in the offense.

Agreed.

There was a LOT of angst when it was mentioned in the offseason that Sellers would need to improve to become a top level qb. This offended some posters greatly, even though they eventually agreed.

But he really needed to improve as a passer, and I dont think he has. If anything, he's regressed.

His draft status now is based of his athleticism and the fact that hes got a strong arm.

The Sellers worshippers tend to forget he was not recruited by any of the big name college programs. There is a reason for that. I posted the list of schools that offered him and I think Virginia, VT, Syracuse and SC were the only P4 programs who offered him. The others were all G5 or FCS.

He seems like a nice guy but he isn't a great qb.

If he does go # 1 overall the positive is the $$ and the prestige, the negative is he would most like be going at another team with a terrible OL.

I was reminded of them recently when someone started talking about his stats, and I went and looked them up.

2024
2534 yds. 18 TD's. 7 INT's

In 13 games, thats 195 yards a game, 1.4 TD's and game.

2025
1134 yds. 5 TD's. 2 INT's
In 7 games, thats 162 yds per game, and. .7 TD's per game.

His rushing has also dropped off

2024
674 yds (4.1 yards per carry) and 7 tds

2025
108 yds (1.3 yardsper carry) and 1 TD

For the rushing, that is impacted by sacks. He had 33 in 2024 (2.53 per game) and has 25 in 2025. (3.5 per game)

So after all that bickering about whether he needed to improve or not, and he throws us all for a loop and regresses.

Ha, I went and dug up the old thread that started it, for giggles.

Some things in this thread were very prophetic, and some people came out looking pretty bad.

I wonder if we still think Sellers is as good as Lamar Jackson and Cam Newton?

Makes me wonder, even if his draft grade slips to say 3rd round, if he might still jump and get what he can while he can.

If he came back next year and put up comparable results, he'd probably drop to a 5th or so rounder.

He's still got some equity from last year's late run he can cash in on.

Yes.

From a completely selfish perspective, what would his choices be? Go mid round, or come back to us with a probably weak OL again and (barf) possibly the same OC? A third option is transfer to a better team/staff.

Selfishly, coming back to us is the worst option, but that is where his loyalty may push him.

He was pretty vocal about having turned down big offers to return here this season, but he was likely speaking for an assumption that he and the team would have a great year. He'd forever soil his name if he transferred. And it might just be that he's not as good as people thought so whatever system he goes to won't matter.

If he were to come back, I assume Noland would transfer out.

Only SC could have the number 1 qb in the draft and be 129th out of 135 in total offense. I give up lolol......
