Tough team to beat on the road, Nebraska could have won it just the same. A few long passes and run calls in the middle certainly made youo_O!

OT playcalling on first and 2nd down was horrendous. 2 runs up the middle by the tailback that basically didn't work all night? Put Tommy in the shotgun and give him a zone read playcall if you are going to run it. At least he or the running back could have gained 6 yards or so and made 3rd/4th down easier to convert. Langsdorf basically gave away the first two plays in over time!!!

The second down play was weak, but if they call the blatantly PI against Westy on third down, we are all singing a different toon.

Watch out....correct answer is awesome playcalls. That and...no pointing out QB stats. Hindsight is 20/20...but Langsdorf going conservative at the wrong time hurt.

We only had to get in field goal range at the end of regulation. I felt like we could have thrown 5-10 yard passes to Morgan all the way down the field. Instead we went for the Hail Mary?

Couple people here said the same thing. To me, it had coach Riley written all over it. At least at the end of regulation it did. It's gonna be fun to watch this offense when we have someone that can look off defenses and make the "next level" throws. Tommy showed a ton of guts though, that guy has some serious determination.

Going conservative on 1st/2nd down...he gave those plays away. Just tell the officials to start the drive at 3rd and long.
Well Tommy was having trouble getting to his second option in the passing game and was throwing it at a 30 % clip. This hurts but I wasn't embarrassed by our coaching or the play of our team. Needed TA to make a couple of better decisions late in the game but it didn't happen. Nobody on this board could have done it under the circumstances.

Some of those read options were getting things done, wish they would have at least showed that formation. Lots of things to ponder the next few days, but the effort tonight was outstanding. I expect the same next week.

I am talking about the ultra conservative running plays that were called on 1st and 2nd down in overtime...not the passing game. We had a chance to win the game and we call 2 runs right up the middle and do not give a pretty good running qb the option to possibly use his legs...unreal.

I really feel bad for the players given those play calls.

I really don't like the lack of motion and misdirection. Our scheme seems pretty easy to figure out. I swear we had the slot receiver jog towards the line 40 times, and tried to run it up the gut on 35 of them. Did we try a fake jet sweep once tonight?

Well I was screaming for an option of some kind too but that's easy to do from my recliner. Their DEs were kiIling us and doubt an option would have gone anywhere either. Their lines were just plain better than ours. Game over.

Our odds were better giving Tommy the option of handing off or running based off the play of the defensive end than just running up the middle with the tailback. It isn't that hard to figure out given his strength as a quarterback is running. Winking

That Hail Mary sounds like typical TA going for the long ball. Wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't DL's call.

We took over games in the 4th quarter previously running it right up the middle and my guess is that Langsdorf thought our O line might man up and get it done. HINDSIGHT says maybe we should have faked the middle hand off and ran TA on an outside keeper BUT I think their DEs would have stuffed that too. Losing sucks but man our guys have to make plays. TA made a couple of bad decisions chucking it deep late in the game (like he' done before) instead of hitting the short guy. Plenty of blame to go around. Audibling had to have been virtually impossible but who's to say that TA didn't audible in to those run plays? Langsdorf will explain the calls.

Shotgun zone read plays also spreads the defense out and can influence the creation of running lanes. Can't wait to hear his explanation if someone in the media will ask him about it. Winking

Don't remember seeing that.. I'll have to go back and watch again.
The last 2 I saw were for negative yards. One was a reverse to Westerkamp. The other I don't remember who got the ball. Their backers did a great job of filling because our O line couldn't get to the 2nd level to stop pursuit. Wisconsin's DEs were very good.
