A few things there . Melton was coming off the paintball suspension . He got beat early on a big play . He never should have been suspended for that stupid paintball thing.

Northwestern was honoring its rose bowl Barnett team . Fitz had them fired up . It was gonna be hard to beat them in that stadium in that environment.

Our offense was putrid.

Every season is so different that what happened last time is really just a minor data point in the grand scheme, especially with the issues inside the NW program they’re having.

RU needs to focus on playing their best games every week. Playing tough, fast, and physical while limiting mistakes. If our D plays up to their full potential, and QB+OL takes a big leap, we’re Bowling.

Should have also beaten them in the only other time we played them as B1G members in '18. That 1-11 (0-9) bunch had the eventual B1G West Champs on the ropes, but were bested by a sustained TD drive midway through the 4th to put NW up 18-15. A hideous game - 188 yards of offense and 2/15 on 3rd down for RU.

We'll get them on Sunday.

I really do not know what our offensive gameplan is going to be / how much latitude Kirk really has (Schiano has said before that he's staying out of the offense). But, I'd be surprised if we're not running the ball somewhere between 60-70% of the time. I'm not sure how much experience that gives our QB (who surely needs it). But, I think Wimsatt will probably go somewhere around 50-55% completion percentage on 20 attempts. Hopefully, no turnovers. But, we get into the red zone, we'll be running the ball MOST of the time.

All of this means, no whooping (as mentioned above). I don't think you can realistically whoop the other team when you're putting together 6-8 minute long drives. This is a low-scoring affair, one way or another.
