Money. They know the east coast will stay up and tune in, and they wanted to make sure the west coast did the same. If we were the early game at 7, people on the west coast wouldn't even be out of work yet. Sucks for us, but they do everything to make money.

My entire childhood, my dad complained about the Eastern time zone.

I never got it, until I moved away, and then re-entered.

Thankful I live in the central time zone part of the state. Tuesday night games would be killer all season if not for it.

Happens in every sport. I HATE how the TV Execs cater to the West Coast. It would make more sense for them to start games (in all sports) earlier. When do fans want to watch a game more, the start of the game or the end of the game? Obviously the end of the game. But I think they loose a lot of casual fans who aren't willing to stay up/out until midnight or later on the East coast to watch the end of a game. Die-hard fans will watch regardless.
I would bet that by starting games thirty minutes to one hour earlier, they would gain more end of game fans from the East coast, than they lose at the beginning of the game from the West coast.

I just hope that this week, Cal is having his practices at 10pm (if allowed). And not letting the players go to bed before 1am.

It's not a cater in this case... it's pure money grab. East coast team vs west coast team. Easiest way to get most viewers, is 630 west coast time and 930 east coast time.
But it's all about the student athlete:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The late game is always going to be the game that will garner the most attention. Hence, UK is almost always going to get the late game unless we're playing a dud. Will also be the late game on Sunday if we win on Friday.

I'll take the eastern time zone over pacific, where games are starting while you're still at work.

The time thing is a non factor....

I know we played the late sweet 16 game in 93. We went to final four.

I think we played the late sweet 16 game in 12. We went to final four and won the championship.

We played the late game against UL and went on be at Michigan to go to final four in 14


I can't recall game times for most of our tournaments.

Just looked the 11 sweet 16 game against Ohio State was also the late game. We won on Sunday against UNC. It is a non issue
