Deep says PJ is back to sitting six and Johnson may get a few reps this weekend.

That is really too bad on PJ...Going to need him in game 6.

Will be great to get MJ back though...

Why not redshirt them both?

You can't redshirt a suspension. Otherwise, you lift the punishment.

Why medical redshirt a guy that(has already redshirted) is ready to go by week 5 and a huge part of our passing game?

That only applies to official NCAA suspensions like Renardo Sidney and the Latvian who just got kicked off.

You can redshirt in-house suspensions, like Arceto Clark in 2009, and Anthony Johnson in 2008 (although he never came back and may not have made it all the way through '08)

If the idea is to punish a kid, how does redshirting him accomplish that task? It is faulty logic to think "oh he failed two drug tests and thus is under school mandated half season suspension" so we will just redshirt him. That is spitting in the face of your own rules IMO...

But you don't want to punish yourself by punishing the kid. If he is that good, save a year of eligibility and let him help cushion the loss of Josh Boyd next year

If he is "that" good, he will be eligible to leave after next season regardless...

I fail to see how saving a year of eligibility cushions the loss of Boyd. If anything, you need experience stepping into that spot...

I'm sorry, but it is simply asinine to even consider "redshirting" either guy at this point. One is our best receiving threat, and the other is(easily) our 2nd best DT. We are undefeated. Chances are good that we will still be when they are both 100% ready to go, after only being challenged once-twice in the games they missed. Your seriously wanting to redshirt 2 guys that would be available and ready by the time we NEED them in Tuscaloosa?

There is no "save them for next year" at this point. This IS next year. The stars are aligned for us to make a run right now, and I'll be highly disappointed if we don't pull of every stop to try to make it. It will never get any easier than it is right now.
