So in the middle of a back and forth game in which your team is in the middle of a collapse a coach should be paying attention to scenarios in which the fans may boo...u are smarter and better than that..thats another thing whats wrong with this message board it gives the fans a sense of entitlement and u are owed nothing...#findanewteam
100% disagree...I've been in the situation before and seen other players protected by an aware coach, don't you understand part of Floods delusion is he believes CL is so important he can't stand the thought of taking a snap without him?
Give the kid a series off, you can't see that.
A sense of entitlement Rob? CL is not Dan Marino, a coach should protect his players when he can, amazing how doing the right thing works out and the replacement in that moment makes a play

Maybe, but the head coach should definitely be aware of protecting his starting quarterback from injury after being absolutely leveled on the previous play and give him the rest of the series to recover. Also, switching quarterbacks twice during a single set of downs (regardless of whether they were handing the ball off or not) does not in any way maintain offensive continuity..

No, but if he

No, but if he was going to hand off, why the F bring back a just rocked player?

Flood put Laviano back in immediately as a big, symbolic middle finger to the crowd. He knew the reaction it would generate. He's a phony when it comes to his "Mr Nice Guy" act and is absolutely doing these things out of hubris. It was an otherwise preposterous move, not to have Rettig play at least 4 or 5 plays to give Laviano a chance to collect himself. Flood is a douche. The time I truly realized this and turned on him was the Kent State debacle with Nova. From there, I realized that he is not head coach material. Up to that point, I merely feared or suspected as much.

if you cant't support our team, then move on. Chris played a great first and only had 2 plays he would like back in the second half. Booing him was moronic but typical of RU fans. This has been going on forever. We honestly have a group of people that want to lose so they can *****. Trust me bitching is not helping you. Try some heavy meds instead. If you need a team that wins every year then change teams every year as part of your treatment.

It was good to see we do have some solid fans left at the last game. That core group will stay on and new fans will come along every year. Good riddance.
And that core group will be happy living in mediocrity their entire lives...good luck!

Not to mention his insane need to have CL take every meaningful snap in every game completely destroys the confidence of Rettig, who in his mind feels the coach doesn't even trust him enough to give him a series.
Just awful player management

Nah. F that little mercenary. I've been here a lot longer than him and I'll be here after he transfers to James Madison for his last year. He's got some nerve telling the people who make his free college career possible to find another team.

If Flood does go he won't see the field as a starter again.

Now that said I didn't boo him and wouldn't until now.

Zappaa makes a great point. The boo'ing was inappropriate, but the administration and head coach have shown a complete disconnect with the fanbase. Frustration is boiling over because the fans have come to expect the inconceivable from RU leadership. What results is our fanbase acting out inappropriately. When the administration treats fans that spend a few grand on tickets, parking, and donations each year as if they are spending pocket change and tell them to be patient and keep doing this for a few more years so that RU can cash the B1G check without putting an appropriate product on the field, then you are going to get boorish behavior.

Agreed. Inappropriate response by Laviano to jerks that boo.

this was my thought exactly. At first I thought just the extreme stubborn side..been then realized it was much more than that.

3 Wrongs don't make a right. Booing was wrong, Laviano waving his arms in derision was wrong, and his instagram was wrong. He seems extremely immature.

It is an immature response by Laviano, but I would expect no different from most 18-22 year olds. I give the kid a pass. My ire is aimed more at KF, Barchi, and the BOG.

My section cheered for CL when he got up from the hit. Most of the stadium did. My section booed loudly when CL came back on the field but the booing and comments were directed at Flood. I feel sorry for CL as I think Flood has put him in an untenable position. IMO he lacks the physical tools to be a B1G starter. That's on Flood for stubbornly putting him out there as the starter.

I don't have a team. I'm an alumnus who has worn the scarlet and I have spent decades loyal to my university and I will continue to do so. The idea that most who follow their alma mater would "switch" teams is Flood level dumb.

This football program situation is so out of control that even if all of the egregious things that happened on and Off the field had not happened, with this level of antagonism created by flood, it would be sufficient in and of itself to start over

Fans who boo a kid who was just injured on a play and returns = Immature

Laviano = Immature

Are you all happy. By the way, which ones should have the higher maturity level?

Enough of the boos were for Flood. Please stop. If you boo flood for returning his starting QB, then you are booing the starting QB. Get a hold of yourselves and at least admit it.

Again, very critical of FLood and handling of Rettig, and I agree we need a change. I also wanted to see Rettig Play as well, but booing there was childish. Everybody here knows it, so stop defending it.

There's no defending it and no player can tell the difference, they think they're being booed, I know.
Coach Flood's insane need to have CL take every snap no matter what the circumstances are caused it…blame Flood

I agree with THIS! I have laid off attacking him and like others believe Rettig was better or at least deserved a chance. His social media post did nothing but make himself feel good for a moment or two, I don't want a selfish player being my QB!

I blame Flood for Bad coaching and he should be relieved because of it.

I blame Flood for not developing QB's

I Blame Fans for immaturity and booing a kid who just got pile driven into the ground and was grimmacing in pain.

The OP should go back to supporting Flood

While I agree with the OP here about booing Laviano, the OP lost all credibility with me years ago when he actually objected to RU fans booing a visiting Chris Simms when RU hosted Texas. Ironically enough, as Simms' Texas career progressed, he was treated like crap by the Longhorn fans, as they preferred the homeboy Applewhite, and the boo'ing Simms received at Rutgers was a blip on the radar compared to the booing he received in Austin.

Anybody "with a brain" who was in the stadium when CL returned, understood that the booing and malcontent was directed at Flood, Hermann & Barchi not Laviano!
Flood's demeanor, defiance and non compliance cost him his job!
Good riddance!
