How about<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; ">Ron Vanderlinden of Penn State? He is looking, and has been considered a HC candidate at other places. Probably not a long-term solution, but might a Co-DC title motivate him to leave his current job as Penn State LB coach?</span>

Maybe<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: 'Arial Regular', Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 15px; ">Matt Eberflus of the Cleveland Browns. He may be out-of-our league as a Co-DC, but who knows what he might be thinking now that Mangini is out.</span>

Unless he's also the DC.

ETA: simple logic being he's probably a quality coach that may be frustrated being at a school that's likely topped out, thus a potential target.

I would call Randy Shannon 1st. He was a great DC at Miami and he coached LBs before that. He has big time Florida connections obviously. He would get us in some new doors for sure.

He was a grad assistant at Bowling Green at the same time Mullen was QB coach there. Again, would probably have to make him a Co-DC, but just maybe that, the fact that he is a Meyer holdover, won't be looking at DC there, and knows Mullen could make it possible.

Current LB coach and recruiting coordinator at Stanford. He might be looking for a job soon. Interestingly enough, one of his recruiting territories is Mississippi. It seems as though there have been a handful of Mississippi kids getting Stanford offers over the past few years.

a long shot but it wouldn't hurt a thing to make the call. If he laughs and says no then so what? You call someone else. If he says yes that that would be a NICE addition to the staff.

I also suggested Tony Tademy at TCU. Texas recruiting connections and always good defenses at TCU/Patterson disciple.

LB Coach at TCU. Has done a very good job at TCU for 5+ years. From somewhere in Arkansas. Played college ball at La Tech. Could open recruitin' doors to talent in central and east Texas as well as NW Louisiana. I would be shocked if we couldn't pay him better than TCU does.

Wilson could maybe convince him to come in as Co-DC and coach the D-line and Wilson takes over the LB. That would be sweet.

at Alabama for the Bear. He produced Derrick Thomas and Corneilious Bennett while he was there. That shows how good those two were- they could overcome his coaching.

Hey, it's not like we haven't hired head coaches that we've fired back again before- see Felker.

A Rocky Felker "Top Dawg" poster that shows him climbing into an F-16

what that has to do with the topic of this thread I know not.
