1) Mullen is going to FL because he hates Starkville and we can't afford to pay him what FL can. Although they can afford to keep Hugh no matter who comes calling. Nevermind Hugh is the one with the track record of job jumping.

2) OSHA, 17n OSHA, is investigating noise levels at DWS and cowbells will be banned as a result of this.

3) This also relates to Mullen hating Starkville. Starkville is a **** hole and no one wants to live there. This is kinda curious to me since more people live in Starkville than Oxford.

I'm disappointed - thought they'd send someone to investigate whether State pumps in crowd noise.

they are hurting....this was the year with a senior QB.....this is as good as it gets and the larger state school is over shadowing all of that.....

Its a lot to handle and it really messes up the perception. Perception is much more important that reality. All they have is to pray that they somehow win that Egg Bowl.

Don't forget the "Mullen can't recruit so he will leave before things go bad" line of thinking. Amazing how such a bad recruiter can get players like Prescott, McKinney, Jones, P. Smith, Robinson, and Wilson.

Just imagine if Mullen could get some decent players huh? We could be the number one team in America.

osha is the debil. mullen is a child molester that takes dumps in starkville aquifers. starkville makes grenada look like a mecca of enlightened souls except much more classless.

hey, 3/3 aint bad.

I read NAFOOM most mornings...

during my morning slam (after a few cups of coffee), and I have to say the OSHA talk cracked me up.

I can't decide if OSHA or our fans heading over there right now while we are ranked #1 is more bizarre

Regarding Dan to Florida, OM guys that I know say the same thing. Dan definitely leaves for Florida or another school sooner rather than later, because he and his family couldn't possibly choose Starkville over another city and University offering higher pay. Another thing they keep saying is how Feeze has done what he's done (not exactly sure what great accomplishments he has, other than a few average bowl wins) in 2.5 years. When asked why not Freeze goes somewhere, the answer is the same, "he was born in Oxford and his family loves Oxford. He's at his dream job"

I wonder if anyone on nafoom has been to Gainesville. i mean I don't live there so maybe it's wonderful. I go there for work a lot. It doesn't really blow my hair back. Normal college town. I'm guessing they don't get out much.

If Ole Miss is his dream school, why the 17 did he go to USM? It's not like he wasn't good enough to play for Ole Miss so he played at USM... He wasn't good enough to play at USM... And it's like USM had his degree and UM didn't... He got a degree in math.

And if Oxford is his dream city that he's dreamed of returning to since his departure at birth (I mean for 17's sake... He's "from" Oxford?), why didn't he take a job coaching high school football in almighty Oxford instead of Memphis?

Neither are going anywhere. But of the two, Freeze makes a lot more sense to leave for UF after the year. Mullen's now been in Starkville longer than he was ever in Gainesville, and while I don't expect them to know details like this... It was Megan who had been to Starkville on business (Old Waverly) and convinced him to give it a look.

He's got a #1 ranking right now simply doing his thing. Freeze has a #3 ranking by swaying 1 recruiting class to come to town. I don't think he'll be able to do it every single year. At UF though?

Again, neither of them are going anywhere. But it's laughable to hear them dismiss Freeze automatically while guaranteeing Dan will leave.

I'm from Florida and have several friends that went to UF, so I've spent a lot of time in Gainsville. It's an alright town. You can certainly have a good time there. It's much bigger than Starkville or Oxford but there is nothing special about it. The best thing about Gainsville is its not too far from Daytona.

Gainesville was the worst away game I've been to. I loved the stadium and the women but that campus and town is Florida trash

Damn. Never knew I should dream of a job in Oxford. I was born there & only intend to go back when I have to take my Mama to the doc. Too bad she don't go to Tupelo.

You forgot the part about it really being better to be #3 than #1 at a school that would hang a banner for less.

I had a prediction to start the week and

They have not disappointed. Sadly Nafoom and the Spirit have become pretty much the same board.

1. Oxford is close to Memphis.
2. Most folks I know are trying to "get OUT of Memphis".
3. So what's the upside for being near there?

I'm confused. Just two years ago I was hearing: "I hope Mullen stays at State indefinitely. We already know he can't out recruit Ole Miss. But knowing State fans, if he gets y'all to a bowl game every year with a 6-6, 7-5, 8-4 and an occasional Egg Bowl victory, y'all will build a statue in his honor."
Now that he's taken 2-3 star talent and turned it into the #1 team in the sta... err... NATION, it's like he can't get out of Starkville fast enough.

One thing

you'll learn (if not already known) is that those 17ers wrote the book on being hypocrites.

They have flip/flopped on this issues three times now. In 2010, he's going to Florida. In 2011, nobody wants him. In 2014, he's going to Florida. It's pretty comical.

When you insert a pic from your hard drive - it makes it a thumbnail.

If you are linking from somewhere on the web, uncheck the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" and it will insert it as it's actual size.

ETA - changed a setting if you attach a pic from your hard drive - it will keep it at it's original size as long as it's not bigger than 600px wide or tall. If it is, it will resize it where it's 600px

It's always hilarious to me how little traveled people from oxford are. They don't realize the reason people like Oxford is that it's a quaint po dunk town in the middle of nowhere. It's great if you like small towns, just like Starkville and most university towns are. The only reason some people think Oxford is particularly nice is that if they don't spend any time there, it's easy to drive into town on Lamar, get to campus, and not see any of the crappy parts of town. For anybody that drives down Jackson or University, it's just another podunk college town. A nice little po dunk town and like most university towns, it offers better food and entertainment options than other similarly sized towns. It offers a little more high end stuff than other college towns and its infrastructure is a little worse as far as being able to handle the full student and town population, but not particularly exceptional otherwise.

Hugh Freeze is Gene Chizk 2.0....

He is an amiable but somewhat naive guy who is, or is willing to be blissfully ignorant of the shenanigans that take place behind the scenes to get recruits to oxford. That is the main attribute he brings to the table. I am sorry but a former HS coach who fell into CFB on the coattails of a star recruit, and who's top job on his resume prior to UM was coaching arky state does not go to a perennial also-ran program coming off a 3-4 win season and land a top 5 class. And even more so, doing it by flipping recruits. Argue all you want bears but very few people outside the plantation has ever believed that all is legit in oxfart and even some of the bear faithful will admit it too. The instagram photos of recruits with cash doesn't help your cause. I do have to give you credit though for how you have kept it together. But then I say whatever because despite that, Our State is #1 in the country and has owned those bear's butts for the last 5 years.

....that oxfart is only smaller because they are like an exclusive country club. They don't let just anybody live there. Same goes for the university.....oh wait a minute, pretty much anybody who was accepted into MSU could have just as easily been accepted by UM. Nevermind....

Coach66, you are right about nafoom. There was a mass exodus to the suburbs.

But when making comparisons of boards, wouldn't it be fair to say that this board and ED are pretty similar these days also. Just look at the post above in quoatations.

The bottom line is that both teams are damn good and that there is a lot of football left to determine who will be last standing. Unfortunately for both fanbases, at this point, anything less than making the playoff will be a let down if the other makes it to the playoff.

There are definitely similarities between the two, although I think Freeze is a significantly better coach than Chizik (not necessarily saying much). I'd also wager that Freeze is a little more involved in the behind-the-scenes part of the recruiting process, while Chizik was purely a yes man.

I mean... Both are state boards... No one is making you read either.

And whether you want to admit it or not, kimmer's points are more valid than you are pretending to believe. Reeling in a top 5 recruiting class coming off a 7-6 season and a 2-10 season just prior doesn't happen just because recruits love OM.

Love the passive aggressive use of the word "swaying" in your reply. I still find it hilarious that there are people out there that think Freeze landed all of those guys with a few connections and his bubbly personality.
