If they cannot make the right moves this offseason, we have the wrong coach in place. Opportunity galore. The only issue is, Lebby is on the hot seat next year, who's going to want to hitch their wagon to coach for him?

If those 3 had a 17ing clue how to run a football program we wouldn’t be in the mess we’ve been in the last 3 years. Mississippi is still much better than us in 2 of those 3 positions. And will be in the 3rd too when they make their hire.
Yep, they won’t make a Arnett/Lebby hire. Their admin is smart.

Hopefully all 3 are meeting this morning and fixing things, but I doubt it.
Keenum is probably rubbing elbows with his committee buddies.
Selmon is watching the OU boards waiting to see his name.
Lebby and Hutzler drinking Espressos planning a beach trip.
If the shoe was on the other foot, the Ole Miss side of this situation would have had this meeting about 3 weeks ago.

Ole Miss would have begun their second stage of research on already-vettted candidates the day after Napier was fired (October 19) knowing that Kelly was on deck to be next.

Carter would likely give a heads-up to the Chancellor on Tuesday and suggest a meeting the following Monday, October 27, coincidentally the day after Kelly was let go.

Yeah, Manny Diaz is going to leave being a head coach of a team playing in the ACC championship game to be the defensive coordinator for a team that’s 2-22 in its last 24 conference games. Some of y’all need to look outside the MSU bubble and see what’s going on nationally
@Mr. Cook didn’t say Manny would just be DC…

Lebby is a dead man walking. If we don't fire him now, we are almost assuredly firing him after next season. Why would any coordinator worth a damn come hitch their wagon to a lame duck coach? The bed has been made, we either have to get a new bed or sleep in the one we got for one more year.

****. Those three strategizing to take advantage of a situation to start a turnaround?

Lebby is looking for a new rope hat and planning a vacation.
Selmon is looking for more low hanging fruit to pick to make fans look past the fact that he is not qualified to be an SEC AD.
Keenum is looking for someone to promote to department head that is unqualified but loves Mississippi State

You know what Ole Miss is doing?

Planning for a home playoff game
Figuring out the next hire while secretly thanking Kiffin for making the breakup with the fans easy
Getting their next athletic director experience by getting him a G5 job he's not qualified for

If Manny Diaz were to be open to coming to State as head coach we should fire everyone right now.
A P4 head coach who’s led his team to a conference championship game ain’t chopped liver… 🙂

That said, it’s unlikely.

I responded to @Mr. Cook the way I did just to set up a response to whoever made the current head coach to DC comment…

Before you jump off the table to hang yourself in your living room let’s wait and see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

Those three might be polishing their resumes. Red stick needs an OC, and several SeC schools may have AD openings.

I sense some chatgpt wordsmith might be happening

Good lord some of you are ridiculous. Firing Lebby now would be like hitting yourself in the nuts with a sledgehammer. I get that the results aren't what you wanted, but on a scale of 1-10 of an SEC program we were easily a 5 maybe 6 this year after being a 2 last year. You want to start that all over again?
FACT: we would not be attractive in this cycle for ANY coach worth a crap, nor would we be attractive to any transfer worth a crap with our new no-name coach you want us to hire. Fast path back to a 2 out of 10.
Use what benefits you at the moment and right now we have "being close" and stability. Just asinine to want to start over at the moment

How is the program a 6/10 in the sec when going 1-7 this year and 1-15 over the last two years ? That makes no sense

Did YOU even watch? Were maybe a 3 SEC program in your 1-10 scale. And I’m being very generous.
Look, I'm not pleased with where we stand either. However, you have to be literally retarded to not think we were drastically improved this year and that we were in many games that we had no business being competitive from a talent standpoint. 100% we should have won some of those games and some of Lebby's decision making was infuriating, but we were prepared and competed above our talent level.
Starting over right now would literally be the dumbest decision in MSU history.

Damn, you are retarded. All this time I thought it was an internet persona.
We literally had Texas, Tennessee, Florida beat. You don't call that competitive? We were also somewhat competitive against UGA and Mizzou and probably would have been more competitive with Kamario. All of that with FAR less talent than any of those teams. I get you want to be big mad, but you look like a fool

Will State be more attractive after 4 consecutive losing seasons?

Will we be more competitive after we have to hire a Sunbelt Offensive Coordinator as head coach and our current roster transfers out? You people are delusional on what we could get this year.

Exactly. We should have won those games, but thanks to Lebby's decision-making, we lost them. That's why people are unhappy with Lebby and doubt that he'll ever be a successful coach for us.

Despite the preseason fears about our schedule, it turned out that most of our P4 opponents weren't as good as we expected. Unfortunately, Lebby failed to take advantage of this opportunity.

There are more than a dozen successful sitting head coaches we could hire tomorrow from the G5/FCS level.

No guarantee that they'll be good, but cut it out with the "hurr durr Sun Belt OC" bullѕhit.

So you give Lebby zero credit for having an inferior team in a position to win? Yes, I was as mad as anyone at pissing the TX and FL games away. You have to give credit for having us in that position though. Talent wise we should have lost to TN, TX, and even FL by 21+

We might. We'll see who transfers out after another losing season
