I'm probably too old school - but that is a lot of press time and quotes from 2 freshmen who combined didn't average double digit points per game last year. I don't disagree with how they feel but personally don't feel that 2 freshmen reserves should be talking so much to the press other then to say "just working hard and trying to improve". Let Miles or the team captains summarize how the team feels about White's departure.

Starting 25 of 34 games makes Jacobson a "freshmen reserve", interesting to say the least. The only returning upperclassmen is Tai Webster, and he's overseas playing for his country. Wait, they should've talked with Nick Fuller, he's started 1 of 40 career games.

I suggest familiarizing yourself with the returning roster.

apologies - should have said freshmen who average less than 5 points a game and would likely have been reserves at any other power 5 school worth a damn should keep their mouths shut

better?

Basketball is an "ALL ABOUT ME" sport and who gives a darn about anything else. We are reaping what we've sown in this generation of spoiled brats and extremely over protected parents. The only thing is, it's getting worse with no end in sight.

Every sport has (and as always had) "all about me" players. Interesting that a mindset of certain people is the fault of an entire generation.

That's complete bullsh##. White deserted his team mates. Period. Jacobsen has every right to say what he said. White's daddy thinks he can get his kid in to the NBA by changing schools. He's wrong. IF his kid is good enough the NBA will find players no matter if they're playing at Timbuktu.

Wow! Define "damn good"
He already is damned good. IF you had ever played ball with D-1 college or even marginal NBA players you would know he's "damned good" just because he's on the floor. Jacobsen is a stud and the way he played as a freshman is pretty exciting considering we'll probably have him for 3 more years.

It's funny to me how the media (and in this case Andrew's dad) will sell NBA execs, coaches, and scouts short. Andrew White will be no more talented because of transferring, but they think perception of him by NBA execs will change and suddenly he'll be drafted in the 1st round. That's so silly. In reality, NBA teams are drafting kids from all over the globe. They look at the upside and nothing else. Andrew White isn't helping his "upside" one bit. He's only exposing character concerns and that's a no-no if you are a marginal pro prospect at best. He's got a one in 20 shot at getting drafted next season. Sounds like maybe two of the 30 NBA teams showed any interest and I would bet that those two teams won't draft him because they know that few other teams are interested. It's 50/50 that those two teams could pick him up as a free agent so they'll use their pick on someone else.

I guess that means every player on the team is damn good!

This part is really funny.

“The decision (to transfer) is what it is, but the hostility of it was kind of sparked by Nebraska not giving me the opportunity to make a statement and approach it the way that I wanted to — so that it would have had some sensitivity and something genuine attached to it,”

There's one person who broke White to Kansas. The same person broke White to Nebraska. The exact same person, for the third time, broke White is leaving Nebraska. But go ahead and blame Nebraska, I enjoyed the laugh.

"Sinking ship that is Nebrasketball." Certainly not a positive endorsement for Tim. If this season goes South like the last two it will be interesting to see how Miles reacts while on the hotseat.
Jimminy Crickets. What's wrong with you. Did Miles kill your puppy or what? White is ONE guy that is deserting his team mates and took a shot on the way out the door. Give it a rest.

That wasn't a quote from White....that was the sports writers words. And they are hard to argue. Unless you keep your head in the sand which you seem to enjoy when discussing Nebrasketball.

It is what it is. He transferred here now he's transferring out. We were happy to take him now we're pissed he's leaving. Is he helping himself? Maybe, even if it is probably not enough to make a difference in his future NBA aspirations. I understand people being upset about it but this happens all the time. It's like a decommit, if he was our guy he's a bum who has no morals that wasn't good anyways, if he decommits to join our class then he just needed an opportunity to see what we had to offer and shouldn't be held to a non binding choice he made without the information for such an important decision. He could've done it earlier and in a better fashion but ultimately he's gone, we'll move on and the program will largely be the same. One season of Andrew white does not make or break a program.

so good. A writer took a shot as White goes out the door and you feel justified in your opinion. GIVE IT A REST still applies. My head is way out of the sand. Your constant bitching about Miles isn't helping anything and it was old 9 months ago.

As long as posters like you continue to make excuse...after excuse for some of the shortcomings in this program then you can expect more bitching about Miles. Its been a **** show the past few years in Lincoln and unfortunately, on paper this year is not looking much better. But, if it rings true...I'm sure it won't be on Miles.

No, in fact in may work out in our favor down the road with us having to use more minutes for the underclassmen. Assuming said underclassmen don't transfer. But, in the short term...it's definitely a big hit for the program for this season. And my main concern is....with another possible dismal season how much will that hurt recruiting going forward?

Here is a good outlook article on Husker basketball for the upcoming season.

http://www.omaha.com/huskers/mens-b...cle_e805536a-7625-54c6-9b42-16133786951d.html

Can't believe Doc Sandler had a better record (70-58) in his first 4 years than Tim Miles (63-67). That's sad.
.
Doc Sandler didn't have to play the schedule Tim Miles's teams has. Doc pretty routinely got blown our and with Miles we're normally right there even in our losses. We're MUCH closer to being a good team with Miles right now than we ever were with Doc.

Maybe...but, Kenpom had our schedule in the 80's last year and Miles finished under .500....again. It doesn't help when you lose games @home to the likes of Incarnate Word and Samford.

We have been extremely inconsistent these past two years as noted with the the Incarnate Word and Samford losses although Samford had some talent. At the same time we lost to those teams we beat one of the top ranked teams in the country and hung around against most of the other top teams in the conference. Doc routinely got blown out by mediocre teams and we had no chance in the second half of those games most of the time. I still say I see progress but I do agree that it's time to take that next step. The kids that played this past year have some big shoes to fill and White deserting them left a huge void. Tai Webster is going to have to be our senior leader now.

I get the comparison to Doc based on the record...but at this point in Doc's tenure it was pretty much a guarantee he would be a failure just based on his recruiting. Miles has landed some very nice young talent.....hopefully they stick around all four years and get developed.

Nebraska basketball… Where coach with a better record and worse players is worse than a coach with better players in a worse record… Fantastic
