Nebraska basketball...Where coach that took a team dancing, first time in 16 years, isn't good enough for fans two seasons later...Fantastic

Has it really only been two seasons? That season right after they made the dance...that was the season that they had no one back from the tournament team, right?

Yes, two seasons removed, after a 16 year drought. Plenty came back, and the team sucked, not as bad as your posts though.

we didn't capitalize on making the tourney a few years ago

March Madness is one of the great sporting events in the country ... you are dead in the water as far as recruiting is concerned unless recruits think you have a good chance of making the tourney on an annual basis

not having a realistic chance of playing in the tourney almost every year based on past history closes a lot of recruiting doors

it is a vicious cycle - subpar recruiting doesn't get you in the tourney and not getting to the tourney perpetuates below average recruiting.

I'm guessing someone in the family besides Andrew is looking out for someone other than Andrew. I'm thinking a Cecil Newton (Cam's dad) type of "reward" for enrolling. Just speculation on my part but tomorrow is August. How long can he look if it's just his decision?

Sources? You mean the same sources that told Rothstein he was leaving Nebraska? What a friggin circus this whole ordeal has been. All because of one "source".

As mentioned elsewhere on here, where some dingaling mocked me, Rothstein has been the center of all news related to AW3. He's the families puppet.

Soooooo Andrew White still doesn't have a new team???? Sounds like the Richmond Spiders are now in the lead for his NBA level skills......likely meaning nobody else will guarantee him playing time.

Where are you getting that Richmond is in the lead? Why people are shocked that Andrew White is exhausting all his options I have no idea. He waited till the last week or so to commit to Nebraska...and he waited till the last minute to declare he was not going pro. There was no reason to believe he was going to commit to a school right away after leaving Nebraska.

He chose Nebraska on August 18. He will likely choose a school around the same timeframe.

I find it fascinating the psyche of this board.

1. Andrew White III announces he is leaving NU on June 26th, he is abandoning the program, he has character issues, has daddy issues, etc.

2. Russell Wilson announces he is leaving NC State on June 28th for Wisky. Solid young man, good character great guy etc.

Just cant make this stuff up.

Russell W is someone on here many of you have cited as being a quality kid and guy, yet he announced he was transferring later in the process then AWIII did, same sitch. Grad Transfer, going to a diff school.

Lordy.

He must have hated Miles to go through all this again.

I'm guessing he went to Miles with some demands...Miles did not agree, both parted ways. Unfortunately, it may not end up well for either party. Miles is more likely to have another bad year without AWIII...and AWIII is not likely to put up the same type of numbers if he goes to a place like Cuse.

agree except my guess is that Miles told him he wanted him to stay but that there weren't going to be any guarantees. I just don't see a scenario where a quality team was going to take him and let him get up the number of shots he was going to likely get at NU. We'll see.

Get your facts straight, Wilson was told to leave on April 27, he didn't have a choice.

The situations are so far away from even being remotely close to similar, it's ridiculous to even bring it up. The similarities pretty much begin and end with them using the same transfer rule.

Ummmm Memphis's top 50 Sophomore center has left his team to be with his pregnant girlfriend. Translated,, he figured out what a prick Tubby Smith is. (second hand info from one of his former players). Surely she could find very lucrative employment with a company with very attractive maternity benefits in Lincoln. Wink wink. We have a scholarship open I believe. Go get him Tim.

Another solid post by a pretend fan. Once again twisting facts to serve his agenda.

Not really I didnt twist anything. I posted when both players made their announcements.

Also it could be said that RW was being selfish cause the whole reason the coach asked him to leave was because he was not spending enough time on football as he was playing baseball as well.

So in reality your starting qb is not putting in emough time practicing and prepping for football then being asked to leave by the coach. He could have told the coach, hey I will give up baseball this year and concentrate on football...but he decided to leave anyway.

So no RW was not some innocent. Yet he is revered on here while awiii is spat on with vigor from tje peanut gallery.

Very obvious that wasn't your intention plus, the Wilson leaving NC State announcement was months earlier. Just own it, move on and try better next time. Your example was weak, inaccurate and quite honestly, downright terrible.

No it wasnt. Again for the cheap seats. RW was asked to leave by his football coach, because the football coach wanted his STARTING QB to spend more time on football instead of playing baseball as well. RW could have complied with what the coach wanted and spent more time on football, but he didnt. He made a choice to leave since he was unwilling to give up baseball.

So essentially RW bailed on both his baseball and his football teammates because he wouldnt pick one or the other and wanted to do both so he left.

Yes there was selfishness in RW's decision to bail out and want to play both sports, yes he did bail on his teammates, not just one set of teammates, but two sets of teammates, baseball and football.

Yet RW is revered on here for bailing on not one but two sets of teammates, and yet AWIII gets spit on every time his name is mentioned.

What a load of BS.

Since this is the only basketball thread thriving...when do we offer Teddy Allen? We have a kid in our backyard that's been offered by Cinci, Va Tech, West Virginia, Iowa State but no Husker offer yet. We have missed out on some nice local talent recently...we need to land these guys when they come along.

Word around the metro is, it doesn't matter if NU offers or not. He's highly interested in Iowa State, Cincinnati and to a lesser extent Creighton. I was told if Creighton offers, they'll jump to the top of his list. This was right before he went to that Vegas tournament so maybe things have changed since then, I don't know.

That's interesting… I am close to the situation through a friend that works at boys town and at no time has Creighton been mentioned at all. That doesn't mean it's not true it just hasn't come up once yet. I think he is looking to get way out of the state. Remember he's from Arizona and his younger brother is even a bigger time recruit. I have heard Iowa state though. Kid is a big time scorer

What I shared came from two within the Boys Town community and one at OSA. I'm aware he's a transplant, just sharing what multiple people have said that aren't connected to each other (BT/OSA).

Cool! I had not heard that he was into Creighton at all… But I do know the people at boys town do you like to keep their kids close after they graduate if possible.… so you probably heard right!

OSA on the other hand is a huge joke but man do they print money!

What a load of BS.
Speaking of a load of BS. NC State coach, O'Brien, told Wilson he would not see the field his senior year. He went as far as to say to Wilson to give up football. (Wilson was playing minor league baseball for the Rockies. Wilson signed his first pro contract in 2010 and spent time that summer playing pro ball. He was the starting QB that fall for NC St).

In January 2011 RW said he was going to spring training with the Rockies. This upset O'Brien. However, O'Brien had a hard on for the backup QB and former 4 star recruit, and he made the decision to change direction at QB. In O'Brien's defense, the new QB threw for 6000 yards in two years and plays in the NFL.

It was not RW's decision not to come back. RW never left the football team hanging. No one was left hanging with the possible exception of Wilson himself. If he wanted to continue playing football, he needed to find a new team. Much different than White.

Wilson never bailed on the football team. His coach bailed on him. Wilson did not bail on the baseball team as he was already playing pro ball. He's continued to toy with playing both sports professionally.

Wilson is a known class act. The jury is still out on White.
