I agree with the LFL is our tradition. Don't mess with it. When I watch a game on TV, I dont notice the LFL. However I see those damn bleachers often.

What needs to happen, is expand the stadium down each line at least two full sections. Then add a couple of more half sections to the foul poles with children play/picnic areas above the seats.

But don't start 17ing with Left Field Lounge.

Some things are not to be 17ed with, ever.

Left Field Lounge is one of those things.
The thing is that it has already been messed with. If you saw a picture of LFL from 1985 or 1995 you would be very surprised at how different it looked back then. Things, like people, evolve and change over time. After a while, it doesn't even resemble what it once was but if someone who sees it every day does not perceive it. I think the lounge has morphed into having a little to much architectural character but how to scale that back without killing it is quite tricky. Its kind of like how tommy lasorda described managing a baseball team. He said it was like holding a dove in your hands. Hold it too loosely and it flys away. Hold it too tightly and you kill it. It has to be just right.

Really? LFL is not a college baseball icon? This ONE statement disqualifies your entire opinion is this thread, even though it isn't the only thing you've been wrong about. I agree that it could use a lot of tweaking, but to dismiss it for what it is makes this a joke.

SI ranks it as the #1 College Baseball related thing of "100 things you must do before you graduate". #15 of ALL traditions. http://sportsillustrated....00_things0930/index.html

Modernerabaseball lists it as the #5 college baseball experience.

Also, since OM built their beautiful stadium, they have hosted ONE regional and ONE super-regional(same year), in their 4th year in it. Prior to that, they had been to 3 in the previous 5 years. Stephen Head, Brian Pettway, Seth Smith, and others BUILT THAT STADIUM. They didn't just "build it and hope they came." They won with what they had. For that matter, they had alot more success in their old one that was not CLOSE to as nice as ours...

Man what an esteemed list to be a part of. I can only hope that before I die I can "order room service with coach Rick majerus" or "eavesdrop on a pregame speech of coach Lou holtz". A real Pulitzer prize award winning piece you've cited to "disqualify my entire opinion on this thread".

I may have been harsh saying it wasn't an icon but that list is heinous.

Let's just continue with the way we are currently doing things as they seem to be drawing mammoth crowds and top tier talent.

It is part of MSU tradition, and for a school with very few traditions in general, I think it's a good one.

I'm OK with it being reformatted for lack of better words. But it shouldn't be done away with. Heck, the one section of Dudy-Noble that actually has people in it is the LFL. Why mess with it too much to where it kill it off?

I don't think trying to make the Greeks conform is a great idea either. Right or wrong, how often do they hang out and include the other non-Greek students on campus other than trying to force people to vote for their girl at homecoming? They want to sit on their trailer- go for it. I'm happy that they are there.

I do think that the LFL is a tricky thing as far as doing a right field student section because trailers would have to be moved. Not sure on the logistics on that, but maybe it probably can be done.

As far as the bleachers, I would just cover those up with tarps that are maroon and white and maybe have MSU themed stuff on them. If we have a big game where a lot of people are going to show up, take the tarps off. We need the bleachers for regionals.

Recently, for SBW they did a thing where basically the grandstand seats were first come first served and if you were sitting in a season ticket holders seat and they showed up, they were to ask you to politely move and then you were to allow them to have their seat. It seemed to work pretty well. I didn't hear any complaints or hear about unruly season ticket holders beating people up or people not allowing season ticket holders to have their seat.

I think the attendance is starting to improve. We had some very good crowds for Ole Miss and UT which was SBW. I know that winning is part of it. I think the AD is trying some things now to try to get people back like fireworks on Friday nights- which I think is a good idea. Like I've said before, I think our administration thought for years that MSU baseball would simply sell itself, and that once we got better, people would show up. Well, we go to a SR and the people didn't show up. I think we are just now starting to see some changes with the stadium and the program as far as getting people to games because quite frankly, we didn't know that it was a problem after nine years of sucking for the most part. I think we will see more things coming our way in terms of that as well- but we will see.

Unlike the Bears who've tried to manufacture a LFL, ours is actually fan supported. It's fine exactly how it is. The organic nature of LFL is what makes it what it is. You mess with that, you kill LFL. I really wonder where some of you people come from and how you claim to be State fans while wanting to change the few traditions we actually have.

I'm all for the LFL, but it's 95% of the outfield. It shouldn't even be called the left field lounge anymore. I don't live in Starkville and I've been to 5 home series this year and have to fight people for the 5% area of the outfield. Who wants to sit in the bleachers? Nobody that wants to enjoy a few cold ones that's for sure. Problem is it only cost $500 a year for a spot. There are tons of unused setups out there every weekend. Scott needs to increase that limit and it would get rid of the people that get that spot and don't come to the games. Make the LFL what it is the LFL! Make the right field (hate to say it, but like TSUN's right field). Some of you guys complain about W's & L's on attendance, but check out the LSU/TSUN game on Saturday. They have the same league record and a that stadium will be packed. Push the black iron fence out closer to the road, move the scoreboard back a little, make a multi level GA area. People can put tents up on the back row. It would probably be taken over by students, but that's ok. If you build it they will come. Scott preaches about student athletes have a great experience. It's time for him to include the fans when it comes to Dudy Noble. I can't get a spot for a setup. Trust me I've tried. I'm not rich so I'm not going to jump to the top of the list, but $500 come on man! Make it so everybody can enjoy the outfield.

Maybe your athletic dept. hires a bunch of people to pose as fans every weekend. North Korea actually did this for the 2010 World Cup.
