Please believe, calling it “Pete Tralier Park” was intentional. We should only play Mississippi Southern in Pearl, Starkville, or Biloxi.

ETA: you get treated on this board better than we get treated on the Eagle Boards.
I don’t know why you’re mad, I legitimately thought it was funny.

Also, joke’s on you. I get treated better on this board than I do on USM boards as well.

Literally, THE two biggest contributors. If you take away those two, we are a two and a BBQ regional team.

”Other than that, what did you think of the play, Mrs. Lincoln?”
Amazing how many people don't realize the 80/20 rule applies to almost everything, so 80% of your production comes from 20% of your lineup. So 2 guys, maybe 3. And if you don't have that dynamic, 80% chance you suck, 20% chance you just are stacked (similar to our 2016 team).

So while pseudo will say it was only 2 guys, that shows his ignorance regarding how valuable just 2 guys are in baseball.

He won the school’s only national title after 1100 days on the job. People talk about it like he wasn’t involved.

You can think he’s a bad coach all you want. But a national title after 1100 days on the job is not an inherited national title.

Whatever your assessment is, winning a national title (not achieved by any other State coach) is part of the equation, unless you are committed to an emotional position independent of the facts.
And the program has stunk since then. It's not acceptable. If he had made the tournament and put out some decent teams the last 3 years, we wouldn't be having this conversation, but we have flat out sucked. Last year ok, this year just ok so far. It's not working for some reason. The same lack of attention to detail is still there. The talent is "supposedly" here, the results are not.

I hope y'all can find a coach that can out recruit the nils of other schools. Because the difference in this game is Texas has bigger and stronger athletes.
They were definitely bigger, but when have our teams EVER had much size? I thought the difference was once Pico ran out of gas we were limited. That was last year's trademark, late inning collapses

^^^ This.

It has been apparent since 2022 and obvious since 2023. Pretty depressing to watch the program deteriorate and know that there are people still defending this $hittiness. And there is no leadership in place to address it. It’s a terrible situation.
I probably gave him more leeway than almost anyone on this board, that isn't just a pure sheep. In the beginning, I never cared for his recrootin strategy, but I was willing to try it. We are MSU right? Maybe we do need to go after the 5 star PG guys, maybe that's what we've missed on. So I let it go, plus it appeared we did add some good talent in the 2020 signing class (Sims, Tanner, Bednar, etc.). Of course most of those guys were already committed, but I digress.

Then comes after the 2021 season, and there was a little encounter I had with him where he treated me like shlt. I let it go. National Title n stuff, he's cocky, whatever. Of course that goes counter to his nice guy, fluffball crooter image right? It was signs of things to come.

I wasn't even too mad about 2022. We lost a lot of pitching to injury and were still fairly decent down the stretch until the collapse. OK, I get it, we ran out of arms. Then the talk starts that Lemonis is scared to coach because kids might transfer.

Then 2023 happens, and it's obvious are kids are playing like pvssies. That carries on into 2024 even though we somehow got lucky with our pitching, likely due to Parker.

Now it's all on display in 2025. Our best players are guys from the portal, who are already proven. This just screams to me that the dude just doesn't know how to run a college program. The guy hit the lotto with a great Cohen/Mangum culture, some talented guys back due to COVID, and Bednar. And it's obvious that the recruiting prowess we thought we were getting was simply not either targeting or signing the right players. Metrics don't equal athletic ability.

It's time to move on, and bring in another tough coach. Lane Burroughs is the floor. If we want to go higher, fine, but we need somebody who gets it, even if it's not the biggest name. We can't have another softy.

This myth has repeatedly been debunked with facts. Tanner Allen and Rowdey Jordan were the only major 2021 contributors on campus when Lemonis was hired.

I’m sorry it bothers some people that Lemonis won our only national title.
What "major contributors" has he brought in since he was hired? "It bothers" me that we've had 2 of our worst seasons in my 60 yr old memory since he's been here, and only squeaked into a regional on the road last year. It bothers me that he hasn't advanced this program since' 21

What do you call back to back last place and next to last place finishes after 1100 days plus 2 seasons on the job?

This whole thread is like a daycare full of toddlers fighting over a toy. You are putting waaaay too much energy into a niche sport that nobody cares about
But obviously a lot of us do care… I know it’s not what you want. But honestly basketball is just not a sport I have ever enjoyed and football has become embarrassing.. I still donate to football, but baseball is the sport I enjoy and one we actually have a chance to compete at. I can take my family and it’s a great environment and they enjoy it. Its all for entertainment and thats what I pay for.. just like the movies. There is more than one movie due to preferences. I don’t walk into the other theater and tell them they are stupid for watching. I mind my business and worry about myself..it’s a good way to live life.

I wonder what the Texas players thought about our baseball stadium?
Not sure about players but the fans that stopped by our place were blown away by The Dude and fans. Here's another opinion below. Does this bother you for some reason? Should we be rude and run them off if they're wearing orange or whatever team color they represent? If so why?

Zorro (correro) needs to stop doing that. It doesn't help recruit when every player knows you will be treated far better on your 1 weekend trip to StarkVegas.

Go to a real program like Tennessee and see the hospitality they show opposing fans and teams.

The MSU -TX basketball game 11 days ago drew 9,290 fans. Yesterday's baseball game against TX drew 11,238. Try again........
We need to charge real prices for the outfield lounge if that’s the case.
Open the Lounge up, $10K for a spot on the fence, $5K for the 2nd level spots.

It was malfeasance by the AD not to make a coaching change at the end of the 23 season.

Lemonis actually said in the post-game yesterday that he thought the teams were pretty even the entire weekend. I've got news for our HC. Even competition between teams NEVER results in one team sweeping the other. A sweep is an absolute beat down every time even if every game goes into extra innings. I find it embarrassing and disturbing that our HC would make such a statement.

I also feel that this might be a good time to remind everyone that it was Lemonis, himself, that stated that he had a Top 10 team in the country just 6 weeks ago.

A quote like that really pins a coach in a corner because a minimum of one of these things has to be true

1) Our head coach is not a good evaluator of talent

2) Our coaching staff has coached them down

Echoes of Emory Bellard guaranteeing an SEC championship in summer of 1985. We then proceeded to go 5-6 (0-6) and Emory was a memory.

We know he can win the big one if he has the players. Problem is, he can't get the players.

As it stands, we've got guys that can't even run bases properly.

I know a kid considering State. He's not completely sold on the staff. Take that for what it's worth. He's got potential MLB talent.

This is the key. He had some studs when he won it all. We don't have that kind of player now. Lot of recruiting hype but don't produce players. Where's the Tanner Allen, Jake Mangum, Rowdy Jordan, Logan Tanner, Landon Sims players now. Who do we have that we can trust to deliver in the crucial situations?

He probably does have a possible top 10 team. We don't have top 10 coaching. They were not dominated by Texas. They were close to winning. You should never get swept especially at home.

Searching Conor Mckenna GIF by Foil Arms and Hog

The closest thing we have today is Bryce Chance. Doesn't have the highest avg on the team but it seems like if he's in a situation where we need it, more times than not he comes through or at least puts the ball in play and gives it a chance.

I tend to agree. I’ll never claim to be an expert on baseball fundamentals, but it seems like our roster is comprised of two types of players these days

1) Guys that don’t develop far beyond what they were when they arrived

2) Guys that take way too long to develop, and they’re seniors or draft eligible by the time they finally start producing

On top of that, it’s been awhile since I’ve felt that our lineup and pitching management has been a plus, although I will say that Parker did a phenomenal job last season

Lemonis wants guys "that are fun to be around"
He recruits personality too much.

I'd say preparation prior to the season is sorely lacking. That, of course, is on coaching, but some of it is on the players not preparing themselves. Lemonis didn't have to coach much when he first got here & he's been unable to adjust.

The culture is not what it used to be. This is not Mississippi State baseball.

Lemonis is going to ride that NC as far as he can. An AD with any balls would've canned him.

No he doesn't. We don't have nearly the talent a lot of people think we do.

I gave him until this season. I thought surely he would turn it around. I'm finally there. Unless he pulls a winning streak out of his *** that gets us a regional host spot, it's time for a change. He will always be remembered for winning the first natty in school history and that's admirable, but this many years of underachieving cannot be accepted or rewarded.
