This is what a legit SEC program does. The guy won a national title, probably wins another if not for facing the one team/coach that he couldn't beat in 2011...still fired. That's because real programs do not settle for declining returns for too long. They should have fired him last year. They corrected that mistake.

Petrino is not going anywhere but Louisville!

You can't be serious? LSU is a dream program for Petrino. You think that because of whats happened to Petrino over the last 5 to 6 years that he's suddenly become a changed man? Wake up...he's probably eyed more than one open job since he's been back at uvel. LSU's a classic power program in the SEC and a school where he can flourish at (Petrino's ability to build an offense + the recruiting power of LSU will be something to see I think). He wants to be an SEC coach and LSU is one of the top 3 jobs in the conference. If they come talking, he's listening and if they're willing to pay his buyout then look out because he's heading south. Petrino has zero loyalty to uvel and to be honest, I hope he leaves because their fans made their bed and now they'll have to lie in it.

Do you guys like Stoops that much? Why wouldn't Miles be an upgrade? (Yes, I know Miles to UK would never happen)
It's a very odd phenomenon around UKFB that has always confounded me through 40 years of being a fan. Semper Fi BTW, and that is where any mention of getting rid of an awful coach (which just about every coach since Bear would qualify for that distinction) and finding a reputable established winner who could turn the program around (Petrino, Schnellenberger, Leach, Miles, Briles, etc.), is met with instant resistance and great ridicule by a lot of fans. Only theory I've been able to come up with is that subconsciously, or maybe even consciously, they see a successful football program taking attention and resources away from the all mighty basketball program. Kind of a traditional carrying on of the same ideology that resulted in a watch to Bear and a car to Rupp. I don't know, they're all pretty touching goofy if you ask me.

Because no way we hire a coach that has one of the highest win percentages in the NCAA amoung active coaches. Hell Forest Gump would be a upgrade over Stoops.

It will be interesting to see how quickly they hire a replacement and whether it is someone who is currently coaching. Recruiting is always a concern, especially when you fire mid-season, but do not have a replacement. The current staff continues to recruit, but it can't be with enthusiasm and credibility.
