We will match up better with Arkansas. We will move the ball better offensively. They will move the ball at ease on our defense but they move the ball on everyone. However they will not put up alot points because we will limit their possessions with our clock eating offense.

We beat the pigs if we win the turnover margin and dont get behind the chains with penalties or negative plays.

Mullen has yet to beat a good team in his tenure at State. And that won't begin next week. Not without a QB that can't throw downfield.

We will have a couple of interceptions. Upig's defense rivals that of Memphis. And, we both have horrendous special
Teams.

Anybody that concedes defeat against these clowns can't be too bright.

but wait we had 2 weeks to prepare for Bama and got drubbed aGAIN. Yes this year there was different circumstances and I am not jumping to conclusions but I already feel like Arkansas is a lost cause

Relf is the most obvous example (Int on the first series) but he's not the only one. Ballard played well from the start but he's the only one I can think of.

I know...unlikely. More likely is the players and coaching staff thourght more about how short life is and the things that are relaly inmportant in life and lacked a killer instinct to prepare for Bama. Then the coaches had to deal with getting caught up in the Pay for Play scam.

Bad week. Next week will be a relief in comparison.

play much better at home, and Manny is gonna bring a lot of heat on Mallett and force a couple of turnovers. Remember, their defense sucks worse than Auburn's....

but I agree that's a lot to deal with plus it's not unusual for a team to have a bit of a hangover coming off a bye week, tho that's no excuse.

I just don't buy that we had no chance against bama. I say if we play a better game we're right in there with a shot to win; I wonder if Coach Mullen agrees with me on this . . .

it beats the hell out of being 3 and 9 and loosing to nobody teams under Croom. However, if we want to take it to compete for the west title, we have to take it to the next level. Good thing to look at is that we have a fairly young team. If we can keep Mullen here, he can take us there. Just look at the improvement we've had in just his second year. I have confidence he will get us a throwing qb or maybe even develop tyler into that player we need. If the same defense shows up next week that did tonight we are toast against arkansas. We gave up way too many big plays on defense and had too many mistakes on offense tonight.

i think some of you are underestimating our defense. about on par with memphis? we held lattimore to like 35 yards!

SEC defensive ranks:

points per game

alabama: 1st
Arkansas: 6th

pass defense

alabama: 1st
arkansas: 4th

rush defense

alabama: 5th
Arkansas: 8th

take out the auburn game where we had some turnovers with our 2nd string QB and the refs gave them 65 points and we would be closer in PPG too (while alabama hasnt faced auburn yet)

againstbama we had the same exact yardage that they did. im not saying we have a better defense but we have improved tremendously over last year

the rush defense. Our passing game is on par with the Bears ranking overall in Div. I football. In other words it sucks. Having the 8th rush defense is not what you want to have going into the game with us. But at the same time to your advantage our pass defense is equally pathetic. The only way we pull this game is if we grab an early lead (like against Florida) and then play "melt clock" the rest of the way and get lucky on D and stop your passing game.

I like the match up better for you than I did Bama, but for once you didn't have good timing in this one. Childs is out, but Arkansas's offense is finally clicking.

They were hit and miss at times earlier in the year. It seems the last few weeks they've found their rhythm. They're going to be really tough to beat, even at home.

To me, this is just a bad matchup for MSU. The Pigs will absolutely roast our secondary. Yes, Sasnakra has a porous defense, but we have no offense, no playmakers. The Hogs are not so bad on defense that they cannot slow down a completely one dimensional MSU offense.<div>
</div><div>Can MSU win the game? Yes, if the Pigs just have a terrible outing and turn the ball over at least 4 times while State plays an almost perfect game with zero turnovers and almost no penalties. But...realistically, the Dogs are too offensively challenged to keep up with the Hogs. We are still a year or two away from where we need to be. At this point I am just hoping State finds a way to squeak out a win against Masoli to end the year at 8-4.</div>

The pigs will throw 400+ yards on us. Miracles do happen, but I just don't see it next week.

why you annoy the hell out of everybody. Pretty sure you enjoy that anyway, so I digress.

but for once you didn't have good timing in this one.
You just cannot post objectively can you? You are suggesting that our whole season is based on timing of the teams we play. Whatever, you're an idiot. We can't all start out with Vandy and Jax State I guess.

Do you realize that when you post passive aggressive **** like this, it complete takes away from the rest of your point? For the record I agree with what you said about Arkansas, but it doesn't matter because that wasn't the intent of your bait post.

Mallett, like Newton, is a once in a while talent who completely changes up the game and takes the odds in their favor. We'll have to have some luck to win this one.

..from scrimmage to take a 7-0 lead in the game last night, I suddenly liked MSU chances against this bunch.

The key to MSU winning the game (as usual) is to pressure the UPig QB & eat up clock running the ball.

I got to tell ya'll, State at Starkville worries me. You have shown a great defense at times. With that said, though, I believe my Hogs will win this one. Our rush defense really stepped up against Lattimore and SC last week. When you look at the game last night, UTEP had the one long run and one long return and that was it for the biggest part of the game.

Should be a good game. Good luck to ya'll.
