The problem is.....who is going to run the ball???

Perkins...fast but needs space
Elliot....slow and soft
Ballard....slow and soft

Who is going to run the ball???

Relf runs the ball and gets injured in open space...IMO, Russel is the starter from here on out. What do we have to lose?

Who is going to run the ball! That is EXACTLY what the defense is wondering when we run our read option. IT WORKS! Hell, even Tyler ran it a little tonight inside the 10 and we 17ing scored.Mullens needs to quit out coaching himself.

While I want to agree with you, I am not sure we have an SEC caliber (or SWAC for that matter) RB... <div>
</div><div>We arent very good. We arent getting any better. And we have a long way to go...</div><div>
</div><div>Nutt should be looking for a job by the end of the year, just in case we decide to move in a different direction after this 4-8 season.</div>

I'm afraid it is the opposite. It appears thatwhat we're doing is what we've been planning on doing for 10 months. I was expecting to see the 09 offense with Relf at quarterback. I do not recognize the offense we are running. It is a greedy looking desperate offense that considers a 4 yard run to be a failure. I don't get it. I didn't get all our 5 wide last week. I now have little hope that we'll get 6 wins. We're trying to beat people by doing something that we can't do. We are back to attacking the strength of the defense. Dare I say Croomesque?</p>

I get so tired of beating ourselves, we've got to realize what is best for our team. Defense played on a short field all night due to the turnovers and we didn't take any time off the clock. This gets you beat every time.

LSU has the number run D in the SEC. We should be throwing the ball and attacking their weakness on D - pass defense. We didn't execute, they win.

Then I watch the games and they don't get any opportunities. We give one or two of them a rush here or there, but we don't set them up to succeed. We won't put one back in and try to get him in a rhythm. We don't call smart plays. Instead, we complain about not having a SEC caliber feature back and then proceed to not give the backs we have a chance. </p>

I think we're trying too hard to spread the ball around both running and throwing. Everybody gets a touch here and there, and nobody gets into a rhythm.

the ONLY reason we lit the scoreboard at all is that we protected, threw the ball, and caught the ball effectively on that one drive. no way in the world we drive the ball all the way down the field running it on them.<div>
</div><div>if we had field position, I would agree with you, but when you have avg. starting field position inside your own twenty, and can't make big plays running the ball, you have to throw it to have a chance to score.</div>

They had 5 int, pressured the quarterback almost every play, I wouldn't say they have a weak pass defense. Their speed overcomes all of their weakness's.

5 INTs we put on the board tonight?? On that scoring drive you pointed out, did you happen to notice that Russell ran read option most of the drive. Hell, he even kept the ball and made a few good gains.

the qbs have to get better at dealing with pressure (not to mention protection) and we have to be able to throw the ball - we absolutely will not win football games trying to run read option down the throats of LSU, Alabama, UF, GA - if you think that alone will get it done in the SEC you, are delusional

Hey *******, We are did exactly what you wanted us to do...We threwthe 17ing football. Hence the 5 INTs and LSU averagestarting field position on OUR side of the 50.

How the hell am I delusional? You're a 17ing moron.

you could take mike vick, chris johnson, and anthony dixon, put them behind our line, and you couldn't telegraph the read option and run it down LSU, Alabama, Florida, etc's throat starting on your on 15 yard line - you have to keep people honest by being decent throwing the ball<div>
</div><div>we certainly can't get it done with our current passing game - I give you that, but the only way we are going to beat these teams is to be able to throw and catch</div>

andyou openly admit that we cant do that, so...... We should just keep passing anyway? You don't care that we get 15 yards on 3 runs then pass the ball three times then punt? Or run for 9 yards on second down leaving 3rd and 1 then throw the ball 35 yards down field for a pick? That's your answer???

We need to run our read option and we will be in more games and may actually win a few. It works... We get good yards every time we run it. Only when our idiot head coach out coach's himself do we start turning the ball over. Why aren't you getting this?

Relf needs a big time RB to make the option work effectively. The defense will be able to contain Relf when they don't have to focus on our rb's.We will have a hard time scoring in the SEC this yr.

who the hell are we going to throw it to? our gameplan has always been read option..

and just because we are a read option offense doesn't mean we dont throw the ball to keep the defense honest, but what you talking about is a whole different story and when we started to pitch the ball around on EVERY frickin play, WE LOST THE 17IN GAME.

if we go way run heavy in the read option. If you want us to run that much more, then go back to a pro set and run the RBs. Outside of Tebow - who was a freak - I just don't think "ordinary" QBs can survive the SEC in a heavy read option running team.
