if we played LSU 10 times, we would lose 8 or 9 out of those. They are just better than we are.

However, last night was the 1 or 2 out of 10 that we should have won. A team as good as LSU doesn't need any extra help. I have no idea how LSU is not ranked in the top 25. They have all the tools to make a deep run in the NCAAT.

I guess they have more size so they were able to hold Mitchell to 10 points and 4 boards. And LSU used almost no bench.

But seriously.

we are just not good enough on the inside defensively to win a game like this. we need another legit defender in the paint to compete with some of the better teams around the country. couple that with shooting the ball as poorly as we did this is what you get. obviously, the amount of free throws that we shot kept us in the game but otherwise this could have been a lopsided affair.

i think stans has done a great job this year fielding a team that otherwise goes against everything he wants to do as a coach.

experience and maturity. It had everything to do with LSU being in our face on the perimeter leading to our horrid 3 pt shooting.

LSU plays with grown men. Some of our guys are still going through puberty. It makes a big difference.

Your right about thier perimeter D, it's superb.

down the stretch not that they were physically bigger than us. I will agree on the physical part.

buy the maturity bit. either you are a player or you are not. look at carmelo anthony, dwayne wade, kevin durant, greg oden. sure greg oden looks 137 years old but he has the mental maturity that all of us did when we were 18.

we just have never had one of those players. they all skipped on us before we could get a jersey on them. bender, outlaw, ellis, etc... there wouldnt be a single person on this board talking about maturity if we had gone to the elite 8 or final 4 with anyone of those players. you would all be talking about getting a basketball player and not keeping our players until they were seniors or until they shaved more than once a week.

We need another big guy that can body up the other team's five. SWAT is not built for that. Then...SWAT can roam the lane.

For most players maturity matters a lot. You're mentioning the elite players to support your argument that maturity doesn't matter. But they're less than 5% of the players in major college basketball. For most of the other 95+%, maturity makes a huge difference.

Swat's outscored the other team's five 49-2 in two games.
