Let us pray: The Hump is dead...

yep, losses can be pinned on coaches, players, and referees. But the home court advantage is also huge. We are slowly but surly losing that decided advantage we had not long ago. We have had some close very quiet wins in The Hump this season. There are too many folks in the lower level who either do not come or just sit there with their arms crossed. That kind of stuff can cost us a game, too. You walk to The Hump and you see all the parking lots immediately around the place nearly empty. That in itself tells me enough.

...the camera went to the crowd and there were a ton of people just sitting there. Not even clapping. Pretty damn pathetic

It is the same attitude I have had the last couple of years with Stans. It really cemented itself last year with the Sidney debacle. As a fan, I have no faith in a win and, this is just my personal feeling, I don't really believe the players even give a **** half the time.

It is tough to scream your *** of and go nuts in the stands when you watch a team play that completely lacks heart or the desire to give 100%.

I think you couple that with what someone mentioned earlier on here, the Ron Polk effect. With Polk, a certain level of apathy set in and I think the same is the case with Stans.

I know in my family alone, family member that used to defend the hell out of Stans and think he was the greatest thing to ever happen to State now don't care for him anymore.

I thought the hump was great for the Ole Miss game but the players came out and played like their lives depended on it. Today they just showed up, much like a lot of the fans that were there to watch them.

Not saying it is right or a good attitude to have, but I don't know that I will be truly excited about another basketball season until Stansbury is gone. I still watch every game and want them to do well, I just have little faith that we will. From the lack of offensive plays to twitter meltdowns from the players, it is just like a bad dream that repeats itself over and over again. Everyone that watches us play, that has any sense, knows that we are going to put a very talented team on the floor that should win more games than they actually do. That is the bottom line and it is tough to get excited for that.

As an Ole Miss fan I can only dream of lively basketball crowd. I'd take the atmosphere at the Hump in a heartbeat. Other than the students, the entire crowd sits on their *** the entire game. We fought back from being down 11 in the 2nd half and after a big score Kennedy begged the crowd to stand up and cheer and they just sat there. It really was pathetic.

The crowd follows the effort of the players as well. Everyone becomes numb to lazy defense, mundane coaching, and stooping to your competition.

That's really the only thing that can be done. The energy and noise are started with the students. That being said, there's really nothing you can do. Students and fans just don't want to show up and give great effort in the stands and watch players on their own team loaf around (Sid) or just look completely uninspired(Wendell). Football success and all the power driving it's promotion and new vigor have just really amped up the apathy for the Stansbury coached basketball team. I lean more on the Stans "apologist" side of things, but I think it's time for a change. We need a high energy coach who will market our basketball program well to our own students and fans and reinvigorate the Hump to being one of the toughest places to play in the SEC.

Their entire team voted after the season which place was the toughest environment they played in all year. It was unanimous vote that the Hump was toughest all year. WTF has happened I just don't get it

I'm sick of looking in the stands and seeing everybody wearing stuff that's not school colors.Blue shirts, pink shirts, I just don't get it.Part of the reason the atmosphere sucks is because the students treat it like a social gathering. If they wanta better product, they need to do the things necessary to make our home court a tough place to play.

loud as hell the entire game (except when someone is shooting a free throw from our own damn team).
