It is the same attitude I have had the last couple of years with Stans. It really cemented itself last year with the Sidney debacle. As a fan, I have no faith in a win and, this is just my personal feeling, I don't really believe the players even give a **** half the time.
It is tough to scream your *** of and go nuts in the stands when you watch a team play that completely lacks heart or the desire to give 100%.
I think you couple that with what someone mentioned earlier on here, the Ron Polk effect. With Polk, a certain level of apathy set in and I think the same is the case with Stans.
I know in my family alone, family member that used to defend the hell out of Stans and think he was the greatest thing to ever happen to State now don't care for him anymore.
I thought the hump was great for the Ole Miss game but the players came out and played like their lives depended on it. Today they just showed up, much like a lot of the fans that were there to watch them.
Not saying it is right or a good attitude to have, but I don't know that I will be truly excited about another basketball season until Stansbury is gone. I still watch every game and want them to do well, I just have little faith that we will. From the lack of offensive plays to twitter meltdowns from the players, it is just like a bad dream that repeats itself over and over again. Everyone that watches us play, that has any sense, knows that we are going to put a very talented team on the floor that should win more games than they actually do. That is the bottom line and it is tough to get excited for that.
