Someone else posted that we should celebrate the guys that do commit to playing for our school rather than wasting energy bemoaning the decisions of young teenagers to play for a different school. I tend to agree with that. While I am a bit disappointed on not receiving commitments from some of Mississippi's highest ranked players, I think we still have an excellent class regardless of what happens tomorrow. What do I mean?
If you compare the number of kids with an average rating of 86 or better, this class has more kids already than 2013 and 2014:
- 2016 has 10 players rated above 86
- 2014 had 7 players rated above 86
- 2013 had 6 players rated above 86
More players have actually played significant minutes for MSU, so this class stacks up pretty well with previous classes as it stands today. It may even get better tomorrow. That's simply if you believe in the rating systems. However, we've had a large number of kids with lower ratings that many fans didn't get that excited about contribute including Jamal Clayborn (83) and Derunnya Wilson (82) among many others. So let's celebrate our new family members that want to be at MSU.
