I'm just not sure Mullen will get "it". Meyer points out how he has an abrasive personality that didn't go over well at times. Fans stated how he didn't recruit well.
Tebow says in his book that Mullen told him while recruiting him that he didn't care one way or the other if Tebow came to Florida, that his system would work with many types of QB's.

That evidence points to a problem if he hasn't changed. There's a large chance that he has not. I don't care how good your "system" is the best players win 99% of the time.

CJ went to Mississippi because he got set up with a truck- and momma got employment- it had 0% to do with Mullen getting outrecruited by Nutt. 0%. Their alumni took control of the situation- and they got the top defensive player in the state last season- thats the bottom line.<div>

..according to BulldogBlitz.com, MSU currently has 18 verbal commitments.

That leaves 7 available slots to get to 25.

Of the 18 verbals, rivals has 6 of those recruits ranked nationally.

If Mullen's final 7 verbals are ranked nationally (which likely will not be the case) he'll end up with a class of 25 signed, 13 of which are nationally ranked recruits.

So round it down to realistic numbers & say 35% to 40% of Mullen's upcoming signing class is (according to position) ranked nationally.

My friend, nobody is ever going to recruit better than that @ MSU.

...I am making the point that this board is always *****-slapping Mullen over recruiting, but the fact is Mullen already has 18 verbal commitments. I realize this board thinks they all suck because they weren't all offered by Alabama & LSU, but 18 commitments in October is not bad for a school that has no compelling selling points to offer a top tier HS football player.

Like you say, some of those 18 will be lost, just like every school in the nation will lose verbals between now & signing day.

And if the final tally is that around 40% of the 25 signed are nationally ranked @ their position, then Mullen will have done a solid job of recruiting @ a school that has very little to offer a recruit by way of an enticing football legacy.
